Christ. I mean....all I can do, really, is hope that Michelle and the babe are okay through the pregnancy. But...WHY? After everything they went through with their littlest, WHY would they do this again?

I read an interview that said until they are unable to get pregnant they are going to take it as God wants them to have more children. I would personally take the struggle that was my last child's birth and prematurity as a sign from God but what do I know.

Ugh. They're so gross. It's not like the parents are raising those kids...that's the daughters' job!

I always remember the episode where for a "learning experiment" the boys and girls swapped responsibilities for the day. So the boys cooked lunch, did laundry, took care of the littler kids, scrubbed the bathrooms, did all the dishes, cleaned the bedrooms. And the girls...learned how to change the oil in the family van.

I don't hate many people. And most of those I choose to assign that verb to clearly deserve it - like Brett Ratner.

But I hate the Duggars. I don't know much about them, but twenty kids and the attitude, "If God didn't want us to have them we wouldn't get pregnant anymore" just... gah. Hate.

I have been hoping for hardcore rebellion from one or more of their kids for a long time now. There are so many of them, someone's gotta crack.

I've defended the Duggars in the past because even with such a huge family, they seem very happy and the kids are well-behaved and they aren't draining the welfare system. BUT, this woman is gambling with her life. At some point her body simply isn't going to be able to deal with going through another pregnancy and what will her husband and nineteen other children do if someting catastrophic happens?? Why can't they be blessed with the children they have and survive to see them all grow up?

Because they wouldn't be famous anymore if they stopped having kids.

And it's not just her life. Their youngest was born at 25 weeks, weighed under two pounds, and was still needing oxygen in her sleep when she was a year old (she'll be two in December). It is beyond unfair, to everyone. Your last sentence is right on the nose.

I guess celebrity baby names go in this thread, too?

Lorenzo Lamas' daughter had a baby girl: Press Dahl Lamas-Richie.

Well, if Mariah made nationalities fair game, I guess random verbs are now names for people.

Did we already know Jason Lee's daughters name? I thought it was some big secret that he never revealed (most likely due to the Pilot Inspektor boo ha ha). According to People magazine his daughters name is Casper.

I think they would have been a lot closer to getting it right if they'd reversed the first and middle names. So close, yet so far away.

He was right to conceal this from us.

I have to admit that as ridiculous as the name is, I like the sound of Pilot Inspektor. The fact that "Inspektor" is spelled with a K makes it even more whimsical and idiotically charming to me. I'll show myself out now.

Celebrity Baby Names

Post  emrie on Wed Nov 16, 2011 10:32 am

Starting off the thread...

Connie Britton has adopted a baby boy from Ethiopia and his name is Yoby. Because it's a nickname for his Ethiopian name, and not a made-up celebrity name, I have to say that I like it.

I like Yoby. It's not a fruit or inanimate object or country, so that's different enough from common celebrity names for me. Also, big congrats to her, and I wish her and Yoby the best!

Aw! That name is very cute. A roly-poly baby named Yoby is a pleasant mental image to have. And I'm happy for her.

This was linked from the vapor-inducing Paul Newman article that Miss MP posted: Crazy teens and their crazy baby names. "Sophia Laurent"? Really?

"Sophia Laurent"? Really?

There is a local drag queen called "Sophia Lo-Rent." I immediately thought of that.

What's wrong with Brooklyn Marie? It's a little trendy, sure, but those two names sound nice together and don't think Brooklyn's going to look any worse on a resume than all the Madisons will.

That's funny - I don't find Laurent weird at all, mostly because it's my husband's middle name and the French verson of Laurence. And when you say it with the proper French way it's lovely. But I don't know that I would use it for a girl.

I hate Aliannah and Aleeah for twins. Too close, and VERY tacky.

I like the name Laurent, but it is exclusively a boy's name though in French. The feminine version of Laurent in French is Laurence.

I think Laurent is a cool name, and I could even see it as a girl's middle name. I just don't think it goes with Sophia because of Sophia Loren. It'd be like me naming my son Francis Forge Cupola. Whether or not it's meant to be related, that's what it makes me think of -- someone who doesn't know how to spell Sophia Loren.
