Yeah, I'm DMing Lilith, and she's getting it from a mutual colleague, who was told by McCaffrey's daughter, it sounds like. I try to be really careful RTing something that doesn't have print substantiation, but it's sounding pretty solid.

Wow, that's awful. Do they know what caused the stroke?

They were making some VERY dark jokes about his illness at the Charlie Sheen roast, so I figured that this was a possibility.

I was really sad to hear about Patrice O'Neal today. Gone way too soon, and such a funny man.

Judy Lewis, who wasn't a celebrity, though her parents certainly were. What a story!

I just watched Girl 27 last week (the story of a girl who was raped at an MGM sales party) and Judy Lewis was interviewed as part of the story, it was the first I'd ever heard of this.
They showed newspaper clips from the time of the rape case, where the victim was called a tramp, etc., and in the same paper, there would be glowing articles about Loretta Young "adopting" a child from the orphanage. It was crazy.

Aw, Colonel Potter. He was one of the replacements I actually liked (the other was David Ogden Stiers as Charles Winchester III). I guess that he and McLean Stevenson can swap stories alongside the careers of Jamie Farr and Gary Burghoff.

Aw, another mainstay of my childhood gone. Still, 96 is a good long run.
RIP.

I didn't like Mash or Dragnet, but this saddens me.

Aw, Harry Morgan. Loved him in MASH and loved The Simpsons episode he popped up in, spoofing Dragnet when they were going after Mona Simpson the first time she returned.
I was also sorry to read that Barbara Orbison, Roy Orbison's widow, has died of pancreatic cancer. And she was only sixty.

Jerry Robinson, creator of The Joker, 89. I had a chance to meet him a couple of years ago, and he was kind, generous with his time, and incredibly intelligent. He'll be missed.

It has. Walter Giller, whom most here probably don't know, but who gave a perfect performance in the brilliant film Roses For The Prosecutor. (Admittedly German, b/w, from 1959; still highly recommendable!)

Really?! I don't think it's a good idea to celebrate anyone dying but there are some individuals where the exception can be made. Hitler, Bin Laden...time to add Kim Jong Il to the list.
I sincerely hope the oppressive regime in North Korea can be lifted and those people can find freedom. Lord knows they deserve it.

Re: Death Pool
The first thought that came to my mind was, "It sucks that The Bugle Podcast is on hiatus right now." (It's been a bad year for their favorite heads of state -- Chavez has cancer, Berlusconi left office, Kim Jong Il kicks the bucket). But I do hope this can be some kind of turning point for North Korea, though unfortunately it seems unlikely.
Edited: Harvey the Penguin beat me as I was editing this post, but a John Oliver "fuckeulogy" is totally in order.

Heh. My first thought was, "but The Bugle's on hiatus! Where am I supposed to hear the fuck-ulogy he deserves?"

Exactly my first thought upon reading this too. Nobody deserves a fuckeulogy more than he does.
Here's to hoping The Bugle finds a new home in 2012!

It is only appropriate to remember him by watching Team America: World Police. He hated Alec Baldwin before it was cool to do so.
