Because The Dowager Duchess should be everyone's spirit animal.

I still love Branson. I mean I don't know if the whole internet is hating on him or just ONTD but I don't think << hes being that OTT or crazy. I think its been presented that Sybil does love him but she is too scared to act on it and he recognizes that. >>
I love Matthew/Mary and I think Matthew is going to be << walking by the Christmas special >>

Oh I love Branson too.
It's good to know that there is someone else who ships Matthew/Mary.

There are people WHO DON'T?
They can go sit over by the Branson haters.
I do wish there was a way to keep Richard on. Hes fantastic.

The show makes me feel like I am watching a panto at times. The baddies are so bad and I expect someone to twirl their mustache.

Ha ha, agreed. I love it so.
Did you see the preview for the next episode?

It was the one thing they could have done that shocked me.

Re: Downton Abbey (British version)
I liked Branson more last season. It's not that I dislike him and Sybil together, I want to ship them, but >>they've had the same conversation for the past five episodes now. I think they do care for each other, but each repetition makes it seem less convincing. More covert courting, less talk, please.
Even though I knew that William was going to be toast, I was still surprised by how sad it was.

I agree. Also << Daisy is possibly my least favorite character >>.

Re: Downton Abbey (British version)
Daisy has apparently never looked in that shiny, shiny silver, and doesn't know she was aiming way out of her league.
I will always love Branson and Sybil, both individually and together, BUT I NEED THEM TO MAKE OUT ALREADY, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. The writers are so very, very cruel.

This has gotten so ridiculously soapy, I LOVE IT. I mean,
I think by next season we'll see Carson's evil twin or something. He'll have a goatee, natch.
- Spoiler:
- he had amnesia! In Canada! Then became an unrecognizable burn victim!

Re: Downton Abbey (British version)
Yes, the problem with Sybil/Branson is that they've been having the same conversation over and over again and it's been 4 years (!?!) if you follow the timeline of the series (where time fliiiieees by). That does stretch the imagination a bit.
I'm concerned about Robert though.
I can't wait for the Matthew scenes next week. The previews did look exciting!
This show is ridiculous at times but oh so delicious.

- Spoiler:
- I don't want him cheating on Cora with the maid! Robert/Cora was the one solid, fairly happy couple in the show.

Re: Downton Abbey (British version)
I cannot believe that next week is already the finale. Where will I get my costume drama fix after it's gone? SO.MANY.EMOTIONS.
- Spoiler:
- Poor Carson. That look on his face when Mary was being bitter at him was so sad.
Poor Thomas too. He's still kind of a prick, but I felt really bad for him.
I'm still not convinced Sybil is all that in love with Branson as a person, especially when she flat out says that he's her ticket out of her boring life. That is not romantic, it is a giant warning sign, Branson! At least, their relationship looks more promising in the previews for next week.

The scene with Matthew

It was another episode where I find myself shouting at the television, "WHAT IN GOD'S NAME IS GOING ON" and "OMGWTFWASTHAT"

Re: Downton Abbey (British version)
Matthew Crawley, you are such a drama llama. That was some serious emo grandstanding, though of course, he was allowed to be devastated. Just a tad over the top.
Robert was just killing me. I liked that character so much last year, but
- Spoiler:
- Mary being resigned to marry Richard was so sad. Mary is too awesome for him. Nevertheless, the dancing and the kiss were lovely.

- Spoiler:
- the whole storyline with the maid made me annoyed with him. I just wish they hadn't gone there. Though it may be what allowed him to come through for Sybil and Branson so that may have worked.

I will be holding on to that thought as well.
- Spoiler:
- I still have a feeling that Mary/Matthew are not going to get together until the end of the series or close to it.

Re: Downton Abbey (British version)
My work colleague and I were talking about the 2nd season today, and our general consensus was that overall it has been a letdown. The main issue has been timeline related - 6 years have passed since the first episode. This Mary/Matthew and Anna/Bates dramas have been going on for over half a decade each! Why does Daisy still look (and act) like a naive teenager? Why is Thomas still around? I mean yes, keep the character around as he's good to hate, but in the real world, surely he would've moved on to bigger and better things?
We were joking that the Christmas special will probably cover all of the 1920s, and the end of season 3 will be in the middle of the Depression. And Mary and Matthew will still be drama llamas.

Re: Downton Abbey (British version)
The timeline bugs me too. It just seems so drawn out. Though, as my mom was pointing out, the war did put things off kilter for many years. People were putting off changes until the end of the war. Fair enough, but I do wish they had started the first season closer to the beginning of the war.

Less than fifty days until I am sitting in front of the tv, having a stroke. Serious Matthew Crawley. SERIOUSLY.

I started following Dan Stevens on Twitter, and he posts random pictures. They got cupcakes with the faces of all the characters on it. It led to this picture with the caption: Whose face should I eat?

Re: Downton Abbey (British version)
Well now, I thought my Momo was prone to the aul dramatics but it seems young Matthew Crawley got the same memo about being over the top at funerals! "She died of a broken heart!" She did in her arse, you muppet!
The drama was off the charts -
- Spoiler:
- She died of the Spanish influenza and was resigned to giving you up because she knew that you and Mary are an OTP and also knew that she'd get a better end scene if she died looking pale and wan amongst white sheets than if she just packed her bags and left.
- Spoiler:
- "I thought you'd never walk again so I never mentioned that the other doctor said you might because it disagreed with my diagnosis". "I know I said she wasn't too badly sick but that pesky flu got one over on me. It waited for me to say that she'd be okay to make me look like a twit. It's been doing it all day. I expect to go home and find that it's filled in the newspaper crossword on me next!"
The drama was off the charts -
- Spoiler:
- Robert kissing the maid?
