I walked past Bernadette Peters! I guess she had tickets to Death of a Salesman, because she was standing outside the theater (I had tickets to a show in the theater next door.) Obviously I loitered around for ten minutes to gawk at her perfect skin. She looks even younger in person! I swear she didn't look a day over 40, and she's 64!

Double posting, but I've seen some more!

On Thursday night I went to a concert, and Philip Glass was in the audience. The concert was part of a festival he co-founded, but there were only about 50 people there, so that was kind of cool.

Then last night I had to work at another concert. The idea was that this pianist hired a number of composers to re-write Sondheim songs for solo piano. It was a packed house, so I had to stand in the back. I'm glad I did, because Sondheim walked past me like three times! Obviously I didn't try to talk to him or anything, but I did quite a bit of internal flailing.

And then tonight I went to yet another concert, and saw in the audience composer/pianist Timothy Andres and conductor/artistic director of the Brooklyn Philharmonic and Alarm Will Sound Alan Pierson, which is admittedly way less impressive than the previous sightings.

Calling all Loki fans. I just passed by Tom Hiddleston on the street. He looks much better as himself than when he's sporting the Loki look. I didn't realize he was so tall.

Yeah, after seeing the Thor movie I genuinely did not understand the Hiddleston love because he's a great actor but he really didn't do anything for me at all in character as Loki. But he's been looking especially fine during all of Avengers press.

Hung out with Jason Reitman at work this afternoon. By which I mean I worked while he and his production team wandered around the library getting light readings and working out camera angles and stuff like that. He's better looking in person than in the online pictures I've seen.

I randomly saw Luke from The Amazing Race wandering around Capitol Hill in Denver last weekend. I forgot he's from CO - I wonder what he's up to now?

This is only for certain values of celebrity, but I went to a piano recital tonight (Jeremy Denk, very good, I highly recommend his new Ligeti/Beethoven CD) and walked in the door right behind Alan Gilbert, Artistic Director of the New York Philharmonic. My MA thesis was basically "I <3 Alan Gilbert", so I was all a-squee.

I was at work when my sister texted me that Christian Bale was filming that new Terrence Malick film right outside her store in Venice Beach, and I actually screamed "WHAT!!!!!!!" way out loud, scaring the bus driver. He was ONLY my first freakin' celeb crush. I wasn't dying of envy or anything, in case you're wondering.

A friend of mine from high school, who was always in a band and is now a grade school music teacher, recently bought a house and just met her new neighbor, Adam Horovitz. Yes: she now lives next door to AD-ROCK.

So wait is Adam Horowitz rocking the suburbs? With Kathleen Hanna? I would never get over him being my neighbor. "Hi Adam, hey, do you know what another word for pirate treasure is?"

Bahaha! I would have a really difficult time not asking random things like that, or consistently asking him what's the time. It'd also be a good thing that he was no longer with Ione Skye, because I would have a hard time not mentioning cheese and macaroni at every turn.
... I'm pretty sure there'd be a restraining order slapped on me in about a week.

Saw Chris Colfer totally on accident after waiting in the sweltering heat to get his book signed. He's a total sweetheart, did not seem the least bit ruffled by even the fangirliest of fangirls, and when I told him I was moved by his performance on Glee, he said, "it was the gold pants, wasn't it?" and winked at me. So yeah, he's okay in my book.

I'm pretty sure I saw Jason Wiles at Costco last weekend, and I was tempted to tell him that I happened to be driving a car named Bosco, after the character he played on Third Watch. That probably would have made me seem crazy though.

So at Comic-Con we managed to see the following people out and about (seeing people in panels doesn't count):

* 2 of the ladies from Attack of the Show, spotted on the escalator in our hotel within 2 mins of leaving room
* Stephenie Meyer signing autographs for people sleeping out in the Hall H line on Wednesday night (sigh)
* Wil Wheaton showing some dude around the floor, and ducking a fan request with "if I stop, I'll never get to where I'm going"
* Don Cheadle on top of the G4 booth
* Scott Grimes on top of the Fox booth
* John Barrowman arriving to sign books at the Simon & Schuster booth at which I was stalking exclusive! TNG postcards
* Kevin McHale walking down the street with a couple of friends (couldn't immediately place him without the wheelchair, natch)
* Richard Hatch (the BSG one) pausing on the street to listen to a street musician
* George R.R. Martin eating breakfast at our hotel, twice
* The two Black-Eyed Peas who aren't will.i.am or Fergie eating breakfast at our hotel
* Stan Freberg and his wife eating breakfast at our hotel
* Peter Mayhew getting painfully to his feet from a couch in our hotel lobby (dude is large)
* Much of the cast of Glee walking by us with many bodyguards on their way to sign autographs at the Fox booth
* Aaron Paul, Dean Norris, Betsy Brandt, Jonathan Banks, Vince Gilligan, Norman Reedus, and Stephen Yuen at AMC's Breaking Bad premiere party, which we completely randomly stumbled upon, having been invited to view Shatner's new documentary (not that good) which was screening at the same movie theater downtown -- it was completely surreal that we left the screening and suddenly were standing around with actors I really like with barely any other rabble around. We didn't try to talk to anyone since we were pretty sure we shouldn't've been there in the first place, so instead we stood around trying to look inconspicuous while gawking like dorks.

Yeah, con is pretty fun. The only way that coulda been cooler is if we'd run into Anthony Bourdain.

I almost stepped on him! He was walking pretty fast and I couldn't stop him, though.

I didn't have a ton of sightings this year, but what I did were priceless. I'm going to refrain from naming the poor actor I drunkenly fell all over at a party....

The entire cast of Shameless sat next to us at dinner Saturday night. I don't watch, but I LOVE William H. Macy so much. And he was wearing a seersucker suit!

My plane home had Giancarlo Esposito, Lauren Cohan, and and Danai Gurira. Random sighting Sunday morning at the airport? John McCain. Uh, yeah.

I have more, but I can't think of them right now. Those were the big ones that stuck out for me, though.

Yeah even though I was *trying* to stalk, I didn't see a ton of big names aside from the Shameless dinner.

Although the ones I saw geeked me pretty good, cause I'm starstruck bitch: Martin Starr, Aaron Stanford (Birkhoff on Nikita), Felicia Day, Kevin Williamson, and my favorite of all Sandahl Bergman she of the Conan the Barbarian and the original Red Sonja, she is 65 years old and was apparently a dancer before she started acting, and is still looks pretty good and limber for that age. Oh oh and I saw Paul Wesley briefly being walked to his hotel before his Extra interview looking even more manorexic (but still damn pretty) which I did not think was possible.

Sadly I did not see my erstwhile unrequited love Gerard Way, maybe his comic book was dunzo.

My brother just saw Dave Chappelle at the casino where he works. Says he rode in on a motorcycle without any kind of entourage and that he was very nice. We think he must be here for Reggae On the River, because they aren't filming a movie, or anything.

Post  Sheli on Fri Jul 20, 2012 2:07 pm

Last weekend I went to an apparently very exclusive rooftop bar in Boston and David Spade showed up. He refused to pose for a picture with my friend (a bride-to-be at her bachelorette party) and when she excitedly told him she was getting married, he snarled, "Good for you," at her. He then tried to sit on my friend's purse (she left in on the couch to save her seat while she went to get another drink) and seemed insulted when we asked him to pass it to us. He got all defensive, like, "I wasn't going to sit there ANYWAY!" like a teenage girl claiming she didn't want to attend a party to make herself feel better about not getting an invitation.

Basically I met David Spade and he fulfilled all expectations.

I saw Hugh Laurie and his band last night! It was so fun - he was hilarious, and you could tell how much he adored all the songs he was playing. He stopped before each one to tell us all about who wrote them and why they were supremely awesome. He is insanely talented, even for a rich British white dude playing African-American Deep South blues.

Totally saw the artist Chuck Close in the lobby before Einstein on the Beach tonight. That's probably the coolest sentence I'll ever have occasion to type.
