Wow. I wonder if those three were actually wanting to leave, so the whole contract nonrenewal thing wasn't really a dramatic moment, they'd already told Tyra they wanted out. I say this because Jay Manuel now has his own fashion line and Canada's Next Top Model (is that still going?) to run, and presumably Nigel and Ms. J have careers they might like to get back to. I find it hard to believe that Tyra would outright burn those bridges, because she seems to grasp very well the supreme importance of networking in fashion (and every other business actually).

I read that they were shocked to be fired and Nigel was quoted as saying "Good luck replacing me". Ouch.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if some publications made up the reaction quote, but if it's indeed a surprise to them, then yes, ouch! And seems like a dumb way to handle it, given the reasons I mentioned before.

There was an interview posted on ONTD: Nigel Barker Interview. He doesn't look so much bitter as surprised.

The first dozen or so seasons are now streaming on Amazon Prime.
