Looking for more followers or new people to follow?
Is anyone else following Ellen Barkin on Twitter? She's kind of a hoot but I might have to unfollow her. She responds to a lot of questions on Twitter, which is great, but she has a habit of retweet each question. So I go to check Twitter and at random times of the day there's a bunch of Ellen Barkin tweets filling up the screen.
I'm tiff_fb on Twitter btw.

Re: Twitter
I had to unfollow her, partly because of what you said, but mostly because of her ridiculous stupid half language. Anyone who insists on constantly saying "da" instead of the, "b" instead of be, and drop all gs just makes my head hurt.

The twitter speak is driving me crazy. I wish she'd stop trying to force everything into the same tweet.

Perhaps Ashton Kutcher should also hire someone to watch the news for him before he makes ill-informed tweets.

OMG, that apology is truly amazing. You can practically hear the butthurt through the screen.
Whatever, I'd be a lot more sympathetic and willing to hear his apology if he hadn't started it off by more or less berating people for objecting to his tweet and then threatening to take his toys and go home, and ending it all with, "Sorry you were offended."

Regarding people to follow if you aren't, for humor I love @theisb (Chris Sims) whose ComicsAlliance Smallville recaps sometimes make me cry with laughter. His Twitter is great sometimes.

Tonight's entertainment is brought to you by the mock Twitter feud dream team of Neil Gaiman, Patton Oswalt, Craig Ferguson, and Kat Dennings. It made my week.

Patton Oswalt's Downton Abbey tweets are almost as fun as the show.

What I'm wondering about is why the hell so many people have randomly begun following me lately when I haven't even tweeted in over a year. Everytime I get a notification, I'm like, "How and why the hell did these people find me?"

Re: Twitter
I don't post very often, but I've also been getting a lot of new follower requests. Whenever I actually make it over to Twitter, though, these requests are gone. Do these people get impatient at the time I take to approve their requests and remove them?

For people with iphones, which ap does everyone like the best? I had "Twitter" but it went all wonky so now am using "Tweetlist". I rarely (if ever post) and mainly just use it to follow people.

Odds are they're pornbots. I keep getting their request to add and I'm like "No. Not interested in spanking or doing things to your young body."

Yeah, those are bots. Either those or you'll get random @replies that are like just a random link and "iPad?"

I signed up for Twitter, just so I could join Pinterest, but now I'm totally addicted to Twitter! (And I've hardly done anything on Pinterest - what, you can't pin anything using the iPhone app? So useless.) It is a breastfeeding-a-newborn mother's dream. Constant entertainment at your fingertips. I'm not really tweeting anything, just following various comics.
(TiffanyNichelle I've started following you - hope that is ok.)

Re: Twitter
Okay, so I don't do Twitter, but every once in a while I want to go look at someone else's and for weeks now there's just been...nothing. The page will load the background just fine and the status bar at the bottom says "Done" but there's nothing else there. No headers or sidebars, no tweets, just blank background. Why happening?

In case it's not dingoes, try deleting cookies, clearing cache, logging out and then logging in again. Other than that, I got nothing. But really, might be dingoes.

I've been submitting to a TweetFiction competition (it's scifi and fantasy, but they say they will interpret those categories broadly). Let's all enter! It's fun. Here's my twitter.

I'm thinking of changing my twitter handle to something more professional (my profession being classical music PR). Any suggestions?

PenguinPR? I don't think it matters too much -- some of the corporate ones are a little silly too. Like, the FLIR infrared camera company is @seesatnight.

I'm from Halifax, Nova Scotia and there's lots of Titanic stuff going on for the centenary. If any of you are interested, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is going to repeat the original wireless transmissions at the same times as they came from Titanic on April 14. I don't have a Twitter but it sounds cool. The hash tag is #TitanicMMA if anyone's interested.

Re: Twitter
You might want to consider having separate accounts for your personal life and professional activities. I don't think your current account is salacious or anything, but down the line you might want to say something that it wouldn't be wise for Professional Harvey to say.harvey the penguin wrote:I'm thinking of changing my twitter handle to something more professional (my profession being classical music PR). As a point of historical interest, our local NBC affiliate has created an account to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Los Angeles riots by tweeting the events as they happened, minute by minute. Check it out here. Fascinating.

Re: Twitter
I have a friend who just had a baby on Monday, and she's using some program to record information about the baby which then auto-tweets it to everyone who follows her twitter feed (which is public). This information includes how much the kid ingested and how long it took for her to do so, and a description of the contents of every single one of the kid's diapers! At least there's not pictures, but...man. Is this really something you need to tweet? It reminds me of Penny Arcade's "Twitter Shitter" comic.

Re: Twitter
That's pretty ridiculous, pinguerin, though it doesn't really surprise me. I see people on Facebook constantly posting pictures of their kids -- especially babies -- and enumerating every little detail of what they're doing and how they're doing it. I chalk it up to new parenthood, and feeling as though you're the only one who's ever done this in the whole world, despite knowing logically that's not true. There really is a lot of oversharing in general, both on Twitter and on Facebook. Psychologists must feel as though they've hit the motherlode with social media these days.
