Re: Twitter
Ellen Page started randomly renaming people's pets. Her feed is full of cute animal photos. She also renamed Har Mar Superstar.

The latest from my new favorite twitterers.
I do believe that is a "we live together" joke. What a time to be alive.

Had they had called each other babe in public 15 years ago, I'm pretty sure my head (and that of many of my friends) would have exploded.

Speaking of X-Files and Twitter: X-Files but Emoji is killing me. It's so stupid and so hilarious to me.

Re: Twitter
What does it mean when people tweet "@/twitterhandle"? I thought the slash was just a typo, but I've now seen it a bunch of times.

Re: Twitter
Maybe it's some sort of "I want to mention this person but I don't want to actually alert/notify them?" sort of thing?
Re: Twitter
I thought that might be it, too, but then why not just write "twitterhandle" or "twitter handle" or "#twitterhandle"? Does the slash affect the search functions?

Re: Twitter
It might be a broasdcast rather than a reply? I tweeted something about a podcast a friend and I have started doing this weekend and she told me that you can replace the @ with a . or a - it's a broadcast not a reply. This has a bit more info about broadcasts vs. replies.

I just got re-tweeted by Martha Plimpton. I'm tickled by this.

I still get a little thrill over interacting with celebrities/authors/athletes/etc. on Twitter. One of my favorite bands (The Gaslight Anthem) favorited one of my tweets where I mentioned them the other day. Totally made my day.

Re: Twitter
I've only ever gotten retweeted and replied to by authors, but each time it really gave me a bit of a thrill to see it. I think it's wonderful that they interact with fans the way that they do, although I kind of wish celebrities would stop humoring people who beg for RTs. I don't know why that bugs me so much, but it does.

Thanks for the link, eventide82!
Now off to follow Yoko Ono...
Me too!I still get a little thrill over interacting with celebrities/authors/athletes/etc. on Twitter.
Me too, though I have seen pretty abusive tweets from fans who are mad when celebs don't acknowledge them. Some could be RTing from pressure?I kind of wish celebrities would stop humoring people who beg for RTs

I geeked out the two times my tweets got marked as faves by the L.A. Kings even though I know the actual players have nothing to do with the account.

She was my first celebrity follower. Also my first Twitter DM. I'm sure it's an automated thing that happens when she follows someone, but it was such a charge to see in my email: "Yoko Ono has sent you a direct message on Twitter!"puddingcup wrote:

I'm sure she will soon. She's probably busy at the moment, contemplating the universe and observing the nature of breathing and whatnot.puddingcup wrote:She hasn't followed me yet. Oh well.

Protip: NEVER reply to John Hodgman. He may tag you in a re-tweet and then all hell will break loose in your notifications. Or so I've heard. Good Lord.

Re: Twitter
When I go to Twitter on my PC (but not on mobile) at the top is a row of three suggestions for me to follow. Suddenly that row of three has become rows and rows (24 suggestions in total) and I have to scroll scroll scroll to get past it all. Is there a way to hide the suggestions?

Have you tried going to your settings? I'm not sure if there's anything in there to set that, but there seem to be a lot of options to explore in there.

Re: Twitter
Thanks! I looked in settings and there was nothing. It ended up disappearing and going back to normal after about three days, so I guess it was a glitch that they fixed?

Re: Twitter
I had a celebrity retweet a tweet of mine. In which I made a grammatical error. Let me tell you, the internet is a brutal, nasty mob. I'm too thin skinned for this!
The celeb then retweeted a fixed version, so it's all good. Heh.
