Yeah, they're not trying to save anyone's soul. As Slacktivist points out, the books exist as a sort of "Nyah, nyah, nyah YOU GUYS ARE SCREWED" bit of back-pattery for pre-millenialist evangelicals.

Well, I never copped onto that while reading them at all. I suppose that makes me even more beyond saving. (It's okay, Momo is my Plan B. They have to let me in if I'm with her!)

Apparently Chad Michael Murray will now be starring in the reboots of Left Behind. I can't even talk about those movies in detail without having anxiety attacks, so I will leave it at that.

My worst movie ever (and this is strictly from recently) is Flight with Denzel. I was so excited when it came to Netflix steaming, because a plane flying upside down, HELLO!?!? But, before the plane and after the plane I was just sitting there feeling all kinds of awkward and wondering when it would be over.

So Atlas Shrugged III is coming out tomorrow and it was recast again.

There's also Porn parody of The Room, which may be the first porn parody with better acting than the source.

I actually enjoyed the Thurman/Fiennes The Avengers a lot more than the Marvel one. It was deeply stupid but apparently just what I needed to keep my head together at the end of grad school. Mind you, I never recommend it to people.

Probably the worst-worst movie I've ever seen was a British apocalypse thing called Revelation, which I saw solely because I was backtracking the career of James D'Arcy after Master & Commander, which was the best movie I have ever seen. I suppose there's a certain symmetry in D'Arcy being in one of the best movies I have ever seen and also one of the worst.

It was so bad I had to blog about it. In rereading the blog entry I seem to have had more fun watching the movie than it strictly deserved, which may indicate I was in a really good mood or on painkillers that week.(I also notice in that entry that I also nominated The Astronaut's Wife as one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I think I've actually been trying to expunge that dull piece of crap from my memory entirely, because it had no redeeming features at all.)

He was also in a very cheap, very weird made-for-TV movie called Rebels, in which he and his best friend end up on different sides in the War of Independence in Ireland. It ends, hilariously, with our hero and his buddy fatally shooting each other and him saying, 'Well, at least we died for Ireland.'

That line plays in my head whenever I see James D'Arcy.

He was also in The Exorcist III, with Stellan Skarsgard. Speaking of terrible movies I have tried to erase from my memory...

Never Been Kissed deserves a mention in this topic, imo. I don't remember why I thought it was so horrible, just that it was. Something to do with the teacher perving on Drew Barrymore and something about Drew's character was so unrealistic.
