Unpopular TV Opinions You Hold
I find Community's season 2 Halloween episode with the zombies to be overrated. It was way too weird to work for me, and I am baffled that it is continually called one of the show's greatest episodes.
I am not a fan of the Ron and Tammy episodes of Parks and Recreation that feature Megan Mullally. I like the increased focus on Ron, who is one of my favorite characters, but think that otherwise the episodes are way too over the top.

I don't hate Revenge but I don't think it's anywhere close to the best new show of the season. I find the revenge plots lame and I think Emily Van Camp (who I usually like) is pretty one-note.
Also, I'm glad they renewed Happy Endings. For me, it's like Cougar Town without the shrill yelling.

I find Rob Lowe's character on Parks and Rec to be completely useless. Chris is funny every now and then, but most of the time, his hyperactivity just annoys me. Also, I think Ben and Leslie are cute together, but I don't really care about them as a pairing AT ALL. My LJ friends are so crazy about them, and I'm like, "Better stay quiet. No one wants to hear you be the Debbie Downer about that ship."

I really, really want to love Parks and Recreation, and I just...don't. I don't dislike it, I think it has its charm, and I even like Rashida Jones on it when I found her annoying on The Office and Freaks and Geeks, but I don't see how the show is so different from The Office in yesteryear. The only character I find consistently funny is Andy, and Tom REALLY fucking annoys me when the actor's very similar character on Scrubs did not.

Yeah that's because there was a whole lot LESS of him on Scrubs, tiny itty bitty doses. My antipathy towards that show is well documented, doesn't make me laugh on the whole and I've given up letting it try, but I will say the guy who plays Jean-Ralphio is pretty freakin' funny, they have their Tom to Jean-Ralphio ratio completely backwards.
My UO's are 1) I don't care about Will/Alicia on The Good Wife, 2) I actively dislike Mikita on Nikita, and 3) Bored to Death is underrated comedy gold.
Re: Unpopular TV Opinions You Hold
Don't care about Will and Alicia as lovers AT ALL either, blixie. It was so so obvious from Day One that they'd go that road eventually, but Julianna and Josh (while great actors) just have no heat or smoldering chemistry, IMO. I'd be remiss in omitting the fact that the main ship of any given show tends to annoy me though. It's very rare that I like the front and center couple of any show because they're usually focused on to the detriment of everything else. Thankfully, I don't see that as the case with Will and Alicia. They just don't have sparks from my POV.
On the other hand, Kalinda and Cary (thanks to the delightful Archie Panjabi and Matt Czuchry) freakin' burn up my screen whenever they interact. I've enjoyed their banter and exchanges ever since S1, and I'm over that the moon that the show seems to be going there romantically with those characters.

I would venture to say Chandler and Monica are my number one most hated couple of all time. I'm afraid of going into the Friends thread to rain on everyone's parade, so I'll just state it here. I haaaaaaaaaaaated them. They are why I stopped watching the show. The One Where Everyone Finds Out is everyone-in-the-world's favorite episode -- except me. (I do find some lines funny, but couldn't like it too much because of the whole Mondler thing.) They also started filming the show differently somewhere in the fourth and definitely into the fifth season, and I just didn't like it.
So yeah, that show became Dead To Me after all that. It was just so predictable and yawn-worthy, and they became utterly saccharine and ridiculous. Plus the actors had no romantic chemistry with each other. And then it went on for 6 seasons! I will never understand the love.
I feel like a complete bitch. Buuuut I also feel better getting that off my chest, so.

I liked Mondler, but Monica always irritated the crap outta me so I was never exactly content that Chandler ended up with her.

Bored to Death is AMAZING. I wasn't sure if non-Brooklyn people would really get it, because so many jokes are so super specific. But it's basically my favorite comedy on TV right now.

I still like House. It's good that this will be the last season, but it actually doesn't suck--nothing super crazy has happened, the new cast is good, and House is back to being a snarky but pretty self-controlled dick instead of a completely psycho dick.

It's funny, my reaction to Will/Alicia is similar to the characters': I enjoyed the flirtation they had and wanted sexy times, but now that it's all sexy times all the time, the thrill of the secret sex has worn/is wearing off; they realize they're pretty boring together otherwise; and they have no idea what to do next.
My UO is I didn't mind Supernatural last season except for the Castiel as god nonsense at the end. But this season is HORRIBLE. Oh it's been funny at times and appropriately gross, but absolutely nothing has happened. SPN's been a retread kinda show for about 3 seasons (with Sam as demon being the high point), but this is the first year where I really feel like they've run out of ideas.

It's strange because I think Josh/Julia do have chemistry, not light the night on fire chemistry, but definitely a really nice mature adult chemistry, but the only reason I ever found the idea of their hooking up interesting was because Will wasn't that different from Peter. He may not be a cheating dog in relationships (though clearly Celeste indicates his sexual history is wilder than Alicia has ever let herself get), but his moral compass in general is quite a bit more skewed than Miss Alicia is actually comfortable with. Yet we're getting all this plot point W/A stuff, rather than a character driven story ABOUT W/A, and the messy conflicts between them.
but absolutely nothing has happened.
Oh no, Padalecki's horrible sideburns "happened". Those things are like metrosexual mutton chops.
Re: Unpopular TV Opinions You Hold
I agree that Josh and Julianna definitely have a mature chemistry, and to me that came across way better when Will and Alicia were in that tense situation of trying to resist each other. Even then though, I've just never had any investment in them or felt intrigued by their romantic dynamics. I like them as colleagues and friends, but Julianna and Josh just have no sexy romantic sparks. And yes, I've always enjoyed that Will is a darker person than Alicia knows and that he has a shady past. It sets a counterpoint against Alicia, who's always so shocked and appalled by how terrible both criminals (and even her fellow attorneys) can behave.blixie wrote:they realize they're pretty boring together otherwise; and they have no idea what to do next.

I didn't hate them as a couple (though I did prefer each of their characters when they were single or with other people) but I do HATE the proposal scene. I'm always seeing that held up as such a romantic and awesome moment but it makes me squirm with secondhand embarrassment. And I thought Courteney Cox's acting in that scene was pretty wretched. It's a big-time FF moment for me.

This. I didn't mind last season either--I actually enjoyed having lots of Misha on my screen, though I wasn't really a fan of the God stuff, either. But this is the first season of Supernatural that I won't be buying on DVD. It's seriously awful television--it's just badly written, and the actors seem to know it and are resigned to it.

Pretty much this. I thought that the story itself was well-handled, and Chandler was always a favorite, but Monica-centric scenes and episodes always set my teeth on edge.

Watching the episodes again, I didn't realize how much of the series the Chandler and Monica relationship took up. For some reason, I always thought of it as something that occupied seasons 8 through 10. But I agree that, while the relationship was well done, Chandler had more chemistry with pretty much all of the other characters. He was really great with Ross especially, so I always saw the relationsihp with Monica as the writers' attempt to put him together with a female Ross. It just didn't come out quite right.

I didn't hate Chandler and Monica, but that definitely made everything irritating about Monica about 50 times more irritating. But I do loooooove The One Where They All Found Out.

I enjoy that episode as well, which seems to be a popular opinion. It seemed that they were playing to each actor's strengths very well. While I hated how much they went to the over-the-top angry reaction with Ross (Seriously, it usually made him look psychotic in a non-comedic manner), I thought that the "Get off of my SISTER!" scene was very well-played and well-shot. Similarly, the control-issue aspect to Monica's character was nicely balanced out by moments of honest vulnerability, which I thought that Cox played well.

I don't like Tara on Sons of Anarchy. I've heard her be described as tough and badass, but I think she's just a stupid, stupid girl.

Heh, my boyfriend always fast-forwards any scenes with Tara in them and it really doesn't seem to matter towards one's understanding of the plot.

When Tara got on her high horse about being Abel's mother in this week's episode, I wanted to smack her. Granted, Wendy is an ex-junkie who nearly killed him while he was still in the womb, but with Tara, Abel is in constant danger. At least Wendy went to rehab and got her life together. I guess it all comes down to who is the lesser of two evils: the former drug addict biker slut, or the hypocrite doctor biker slut who had the baby kidnapped under her watch?

Despite the fact that I've enjoyed most of the main cast in other roles, I do not get the appeal of How I Met Your Mother, and actually feel kind of bad about that. Like I somehow should like it more than I do.

Me too. When it went into syndication, I caught a few early episodes, but then kind of forgot it existed. I'm sorry, Jason Segal! I still love you.Eris Rising wrote:Despite the fact that I've enjoyed most of the main cast in other roles, I do not get the appeal of How I Met Your Mother, and actually feel kind of bad about that. And in other CBS comedy news, I don't get the appeal of The Big Bang Theory. I don't think I've ever even cracked a smile at one of the promos.

It took me a couple of episodes to get into it, but the show grew on me to the point of becoming part of the nightly schedule. Not for everyone, though.
