I'd recommend My Favorite Year.

mr.i That is a great movie, but weirdly my favorite Peter O'Toole is in Creator.
Re: Unusual Celebrity Crushes
I'd also recommend Becket and Lion in Winter.
Second this, especially Lion in Winter!

My husband adores that movie -- I'd never seen it (or heard of it) before he showed it to me. We have a Peter O'Toole wishlist on the TiVo that picks up the weirdest stuff, though.blixie wrote:mr.i That is a great movie, but weirdly my favorite Peter O'Toole is in Creator.

My husband and I are always flabbergasted at just how beautiful Peter O'Toole and Audrey Hepburn are in that. I mean, we KNOW they're beautiful people, but still.

I knew he was good but didn't know he was that good. I haven't seen any of his other films. Any recommendations? I know I have to see Venus and My Favorite Year but if anyone can recommend any others, I'd appreciate it.
Stop what you're doing and rent The Stunt Man.

Thanks everybody! I watched Venus last night and it was lovely and sweet. I have My Favorite Year to watch this weekend. I'll start looking for those you've recommended. Thanks again. =)

Re: Unusual Celebrity Crushes
I love love love My Favorite Year. My family and I quote lines to each other from it all of the time.
I also suggest What's New Pussycat. It is so silly. The Ruling Class is fantastic and so sad all at once. And while High Spirits is hilariously bad (seriously Liam Neeson has a horny sparkly ghost is a riot) Peter O'Toole still brings something to it. Really you should just watch it, because it is silly.

I LOVE HIGH SPIRITS. I didn't realize that Liam Neeson was the crazy-ass murdering ghost!
Although he did make me feel funny things as a girl learning about sex. And Peter O'Toole really did bring some awesome to it. I loved his all "Dammit. Mom. Dad. Leave me alone. Aren't you supposed to be in the afterlife and NOT. HERE?"

Also you might appreciate the SNL sketch "An Evening with Peter O'Toole and Michael Caine" (skip to 48:00) from when Jude Law hosted ages ago.
Source of one of my favorite SNL lines of all time: "I'll have a Gin Lovers' Pizza!"

Apparently you can only watch that link if you've got Hulu Plus. :(

There's nothing actually weird about the guy or about anyone liking him as far as I know, but my growing attraction to Bruno Mars strikes me as odd. I just barely saw his video for The Lazy Song a few days ago (Poreotix dressed as Monkeys!), and I was like, "Yup. I want that." Something about that pompadour and his flannel shirt and sunglasses, man. It all comes together so magically in that vid!

Re: Unusual Celebrity Crushes
Maybe it isn't that unusual to find David Morrissey insanely hot, but I will watch Thorne every time I find it on, even though I really don't actually think it's that good, because of him. Such a sexy bitch. I also managed to notice how much he looks like Chris Pratt in the face.

Agreed. As Col. Brandon in the recent Sense and Sensibility miniseries? Yes, please. I really like him in State of Playtoo.

Not unusual in my house. I've seen him all over my BBC America/PBS: S&S, Doctor Who, South Riding, plus years ago in Hilary and Jackie. Chris Pratt? Maybe, but I've always thought of him as a small screen Liam Neeson.

Re: Unusual Celebrity Crushes
No he looks like Liam too, it just depends on how full his face is. On Thorne he reminds me more of Chris. I saw him first on Viva Blackpool and that's where I fell in lust. Ripley being sort of a bastard only made him hotter. I was like for why do you want shrimpy detective instead? I know people loves them some David Tennant, but he doesn't do a lot for me. Morrissey OTHO is so tall and gives me the vapors.
I guess he's been on The Walking Dead this year which I did not know, and upsets me because I hate that show, find it tedious and unpleasant. Now I have to marathon S2 ASAP. But I'l try State of Play first that has James McAvoy too.

A very young James McAvoy. Really good miniseries.
Plus, David Morrissey called Dan Stevens a tart on Twitter for courting votes for some poll or something, which was hilarious and made me like him even more. lol

Ooh, I like David Morrissey. He was almost too good at being psychotic in BBC's Our Mutual Friend as well.

Re: Unusual Celebrity Crushes
BBC's State of Play is very good. Not only is a very young MacAvoy in it (he looks like he's barely old enough to drive), it also has The Master from Dr. Who and Bill Nighy. Oh, and the most glorious pimp coat to ever grace the TV. You'll know what I mean when you see it. It's a wonder. If State of Play had been broadcast now, this coat would have it's own Twitter and a meme with a tumblr dedicated to it.

Periodically, I have to remind everyone of the niftyness that is Jon Lovitz. Proof.

I may not ever have had a crush on him, but Jon Lovitz is undeniably awesome.
