Stay gold, indeed. My favorite part is when she talks about her "adrenal cortex", whatever the hell that is.

Surprisingly, the adrenal cortex is real. Short version: it "mediates the stress response", through... stuff. Pretty sure she's talking BS about it, though.

Re: Gwyneth Paltrow
My favorite part is that she and the mister are basing their decision on whether to have another child on what a drag it is to get the kids to school. Seriously, if that horror outweighs any joy your kids bring into your life, then yeah, don't have another.
Her talk of food allergies irks as well. I do not think those words mean what she thinks they mean.

I want to give Gwenyth a pass on the kids comment, because I can how she could be joking, but you never know with her.

A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing for some people. Related: you can't "feel" your adrenal cortex (not without opening your skull anyway) nor does it get "high".
Also, you are not allergic to those things. If you were you wouldn't just need a break from them.

Yeah, the way people throw around "allergy" makes me want to set things on fire. Also, let's call a "12 week detox" what it really is: a crash diet. Everything she's ever said about food screams binge/purge cycle to me.
The comment about schlepping the kids to school did make me giggle, though. That's completely the stupid shit my husband and I talk about when we contemplate having another kid.
Re: Gwyneth Paltrow
Oh, she's still so irksome, but that cover is fieeeeeerce. My word.
I also will cop to being grateful to her for her GOOP point-out of Klorane dry shampoo. My tresses thank you, Gwyn.

Re: Gwyneth Paltrow
My favorite part was her tip-toeing around the fact that she likely told this unnamed actress that she was going to have to put her boyfriend's career first. I really do think she's convinced herself she'd still be at her Shakespeare in Love peak if she hadn't "chosen" to back away from her career.
And yeah, if you're taking part in "seasonal" 12-week cleanses, how many weeks does that leave you to actually eat?

Even in the case of sensitivity, which relatively common with wheat and dairy, you still have to avoid the food so it doesn't build up in your system and make you sick. Treating it by eating as much as you want and then "detoxing" would be mind-numbingly silly.

The adrenal cortex is on top of your kidneys actually. But yes, you cannot feel it. That's absurd.

That's an excellent point. So, I guess four weeks out of the year it's nonstop Ho-Hos, buffalo wings, and deep-fried mac and cheese for ol' Gwyneth.swsa wrote:And yeah, if you're taking part in "seasonal" 12-week cleanses, how many weeks does that leave you to actually eat?

She so has an eating disorder. I have thought this ever since she became famous, and I still think it's true. Not surprising in a Hollywood actress, but ya know, still sad.

This bit:
made me LOL. I've known people who do that, and it's a total grubbing-for-compliments move, like people who sing (supposedly) to themselves, but are really just looking for you to tell them what a good singer they are.
"Gwyneth's calm beauty is striking, as is her extraordinary discipline," she gushes. "As she falls naturally into yoga stretches during the course of the conversation, supple as a cat, you realize that this is a woman for whom working out has become essential".

Heee, I have no doubt you're right about the yoga moves. "It's just a thing I do because it's become second nature...when you're as in tune with your body as I am, it's best to ride your impulses. *preen*"

Oh, Gwyneth, you just make it too easy for haters. I remember seeing SPAR supermarkets when I was in Austria last fall, and I didn't think it looked like convenience store food, but nevertheless, given how peculiar she has been regarding food, this seems like a curious endorsement.

Even at $90, the white fabric looks transparent. Quite a feat. Also, one size fits all but only to size 8. Oh Gwyneth.

$90 for a plain, white tee you could get at Target?!
Good god. She really is out of touch, isn't she?

If it was loomed from spun gold on Mount Olympus, I still wouldn't pay that for a T-shirt.

She may be out of touch with us commoners, but this is kind of adorable.
