Cuaron's Great Expectations also had a great soundtrack to boot.

Fourthing the love for Great Expectations and its fantastic soundtrack.

I utterly failed at finding on Google, but around the time either A Serious Man or No Country For Old Men came out, there was an interview with the Coen Brothers where the reporter asked them what they thought made Big Lebowski such a cult favorite, and their response was something like, "We have no idea. It would've been nice if it had caught on more when it was still in theatres."

Its beautiful to look at too. Florida has never looked so majestic, and I love the use of green.

Ha, as soon as Great Expectations was brought up, I immediately thought of it as the "green movie." I never saw it myself, but I remember my sister seeing it and then going off on a painting spree of greens for months on end.

I like Troy. It works as over-the-top soap opera. I know it's unintentional, but since I can't take it seriously anyway, watching it as the campy B-Movie version of Homer entertains me just fine. And in that context even Pitt's turn as Achilles, the bored and narcissistic rock-star, makes sense.

I like Troy as well and while it may be my Eric Bana love talking, I didn't think it was THAT bad. In the interests of full disclosure, I must say that I've been a Brad Pitt fangirl for years so I had two reasons to enjoy the film.

I didn't know there were two versions of the film, Kiran. Probably just as well as I'd have bought them both, precedent being that I own the theatrical and director's cuts of Kingdom of Heaven.
As you do.

I've never seen the entire film, but I'll always watch Troy when it's on television. (Some of it, anyway. It's looong.) It's great entertainment.

Heh. When I watched that I fell asleep for about 40 minutes in the middle (something I RARELY do with any movie), and I swear, I didn't feel like I actually MISSED anything. When I fell asleep, the Greeks were grousing outside the walls of Troy, and when I woke up, they still were.

My other favorite thing about that movie is how Orlando Bloom's Paris takes Bitch ass Punk to unheard of levels. When he literally CRAWLS toward Hector all "Save me. Save me". I cackle.

Brian Cox in Troy was the hammiest thing that ever hammed. I just remember wanting to laugh my ass off when he faces off against Paris and Hector before the actual war begins. Only Eric Bana as Hector came off understated in that entire movie. Everyone else was just horrifyingly cheesy and hilarious.

The non-stop promos for the new Sherlock Holmes movie reminded me that I really didn't care for the first one. I fell asleep halfway through, and then when my husband put it back on the next day to finish, I went and cleaned the bathroom.
It's one of those things I think should be so right, but go so meh for me.

Troy is a so-bad-it's-good movie for me, so much so that I've always been afraid to see the director's cut. I'd heard it improved the movie, and my first thought was "I don't want it improved! Unless there's more "Heeeccccttttoooorrrr!" or Sean Bean." PrincessCleo's Troy parody is still one of the best she's ever done. "Release the flaming balls of twine!"

Brian Cox in Troy was the hammiest thing that ever hammed.

*raises hands to the heavens, throws head back dramatically* "BURN TROY! BURN TROY! BURN TROY!" I love that scene so much it's like candy.

Two of my girlfriends brought me to see Troy when I was having a particularly shitty 20th birthday, and it ended up being the best time ever. That movie is so ridiculously fun.

Plus, it brought us: "Cousin. Totally his cousin. In conclusion: Cousin." :)

I haven't seen Troy since it came out, but the HEC-TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR scene is still fresh in my mind. That's quality moviemaking right there.

My unpopular opinion is that I HATED The Descendants. HAAAAAATED IT. I'm sorry, but if the entire first third of the movie is just the main character providing exposition via voiceover, that is inexcusably lazy writing. Would that Jim Rash's hoodie was a time hoodie so he could write a better movie.

There seems to be a backlash to it, so I thought the unpopular opinion was mine that its been one of my favorites of the year.
