Yeah I probably shouldn't have watched that at work. *sniffle*

Re: Film Trailers
It seems amazing that no one has made one of her beloved books into a MMP before, Willa Holland is kind of perfect.
Also I'm all over the Bling Ring soundtrack, but that's nothing new for Sophia Coppola movie.

The director and co-writer of the movie is her son so I wonder if she had been burned in the past.

That trailer is really beautiful. Perfect tone for the book.

Re: Film Trailers
It really is, Carrie Ann. I'd been kind of dreading it, because Tiger Eyes was my favorite book as a kid, but now I am cautiously optimistic.

I'd kind of like a new Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing movie. That one was always my favorite of hers.

My Dad will be dead twenty years in November. Considering my teary reaction to the trailer, I expect seeing the film will have me crying my eyes out. Oh what the hell, crying is supposed to be cathartic so it's all good.

Re: Film Trailers
Ender's Game
"We need a new kind of soldier. One who doesn't think the way we think, fear the things we fear."
And the bold plan for creating this new breed of soldier? Create a school where kids will be molded and shaped by... the same "old" soldiers that are apparently so rigid in their way of thinking that they can't adapt their tactics to fit the enemy.
For those that liked the novels, I hope you find what you're looking for here. For my part, I give it a tepid "Ennnnnnhhhhh....."
I was pleasantly, surprised, however, in the listing of Academy Award Winners and Nominees that someone remembered that Harrison Ford got nominated once upon a time. You never see his name prefaced that way.

Re: Film Trailers
I gotta try to read Ender's Game already. Haven't read much sci-fi, but I've been intrigued by the hoopla surrounding the film adaptation.

If you're going to read it, get a copy from the library or borrow someone else's. Just don't buy a copy of it. Orson Scott Card is NOT a good guy, and I wouldn't want to give him any money.

Re: Film Trailers
I will say this, when I was about to read Ender's Game, I thought to myself, "This can't live up to the hype", but (at least for me), it totally did.
The trailer looks neat, but, man, Harrison Ford. That voiceover sounds like it was done over the phone at 6 in the morning, and Ford was not only still in bed, but he never opened his eyes when he answered the phone.

Re: Film Trailers
Lets be honest that description is probably 100 percent accurate to how that VO went down.

I hardly ever buy books, Agent Sculder, so don't you worry! Library books are my best friends.

The Wolf of Wall Street, the latest from Martin Scorsese (starring who else but DiCaprio).
I'm not sure I want to spend two hours with the characters, but that is one heckuva trailer.

Re: Film Trailers
Definitely getting Goodfellas vibes off it in how it's showcasing the humor and the excess. And I'm sure like that film, it'll go quite dark when the downfall starts.

Re: Film Trailers
Why has the world not given me Matthew and Leo together before? Looks great, and Kyle Chandler is in it so there should be at least one doggedly earnest nice person circa 1942 I want to spend time with in it.
Re: Film Trailers
I am so excited for this. So excited for this.
I also continue to be totally in awe of and delighted by MM's career resurgence. I mean not in that his career was doing badly, but more his creative resurgence I should say. he has really just decided to complete change directions and actualyl access his initial potentional the last few years and I love it.

Yeah, it's great to see, especially because I never doubted his talent. I've loved him since A Time to Kill, so I'm happy he's challenging himself again.

I am so down for this. And I love MM looking like Christian Bale in American Psycho.

Re: Film Trailers
Yeah I've always thought he was talented too, and hes snuck in enough stuff in between his rom coms (and I love rom coms but some of his were just BAD. Wedding Planner, yes, Fool's Gold, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?) that I never fully gave up on that (Frailty, 13 Conversations about One Thing, etc) but its nice to see how actively he switched gears.
It gives me hope for others.

Based on that trailer, MM is turning into Woody Harrelson.
