80's Films

Post  swsa on Wed Apr 25, 2012 11:13 pm

I had no idea where to put this, so I'm starting a thread for it, because OMG, Molly Ringwald is answering questions on reddit.

John Hughes almost fired Judd Nelson on The Breakfast Club. The lipstick trick was just movie magic. Her husband dressed up like Jake Ryan for Halloween one year.

But the best...
Q: Are you team Duckie or team Blaine?

MW: First of all, I am Team James Spader.

False. This one is the best one:

Q: How did you manage to get hotter with age?
A: I drink the blood of Kristen Stewart.

You're both wrong.

Q: Would it be possible for you to stop looking like me? /jk.
Seriously, at least once a week I hear from SOMEONE "Do you know who you look like?"
I have begun to answer, "Since I don't think you know my mother, you must be referring to Molly Ringwald."
This pic is 2 years old, but I don't look that different: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u233/cybele24/before.jpg

A: There is something I need to tell you. I was young, he was dashing... There was beer involved.

Ha I love that Molly too envisioned a sequel where Andie runs into a Steff and he wants to make a videotape of her talking about sex, and he doesn't want to carry too many keys, or tell any more lies. Okay maybe that was just me.

I did not have that fantasy. I DID however have visions of Andie and Steff hooking up at their 10-year high school reunion. And then I cursed the fact that the internet wasn't around to give me the REAMS of Andie/Steff fanfic that I bet I could find if it was released now.

They have been showing a lot of 80's films on the multiplexes and one of the things I find comforting about 80's scores is the saxophone of sadness. There is always a saxophone of sadness during the romantic plot/subplot.

Two years belated on Molly Ringwald coolness, but about two months ago on This American Life, she talked about watching The Breakfast Club with her teenaged daughter.
