She sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the rest of the cast, imo, because they ran out of time to find someone of Hathaway/Jackman's stature who could do the role on such short notice.

She really does; she looks like she just stepped off the stage of the latest Disney Channel sit-com. Everyone else looks grimied up and appropriately period - you've got Anne having her hair hacked off unevenly - and Samantha has such teen-pop-star hair and face. Is it her bangs? Her perfect teeth? Her superficial resemblance to Selena Gomez? I don't know, but she definitely is the one I'd pick out of the cast as "One of these things is not like the others".

Her face is just so sweet and perky I think. Plus her street-chic costume doesn't help. But there have been only snippets so maybe she'll turn out to be less Disney-esque. But it's not like she's the only no name anyway - Aaron Tveit and Eddie Redmayne aren't huge either.

I've been home sick since Friday and can't focus on anything productive, so this means I have watched the extended look video a billion times. I am going to need going to need all the tissues when I go to see this thing. And maybe a fainting couch.

Samantha Barks definitely has Disneyface, but at least they've begrimed her a bit more than in the 25th anniversary concert. I grew up on the Original London Cast cassette and later CD--in high school my friend made me a Xeroxed booklet of all the lyrics (pre-internet!) which I kept in my locker at all times, for some strange reason--so Frances Ruffelle is the Eponine I have sung along to at embarrassingly high volumes for all these years. So excited to spot her in this!

Still a little nervous about Russell Crowe, especially since we haven't heard him singing as Javert yet. Roger Allam is Javert to me--no one can menacingly growl "Valjean" as well as he can. Amanda Seyfried has a bit of an annoying vibrato going on in that clip, but it sort of works somehow? Cosette's not exactly the most three-dimensional of roles, anyway.

I wonder when we'll get full trailer? I'm really curious to see the Thenardiers!

Probably when "Pitch Perfect" comes out we'll get another trailer.

Poster!

I like it. It's not hugely creative, but that image is effective whether an illustration or a real girl.

That image is as icon as the Phantom's mask so they pretty much had to use it for some of the advertising.

I do wish the eyes weren't SO brightly photoshopped though. It's a tad creepy.

Wow. I love it.

And here's one for Valjean.

ETA-And Javert.

I like these so much better than the one of child Cosette. I want to like that one the best because it's such an iconic image but Cosette looks like she's one of those creepy alien kids from Village of the Damned.

ETA: I love the tag lines they're using. I hope Eponine gets one.

I wish they hadn't used "I am the Law" for Javert. I keep thinking of Rob Schneider imitating Stallone in Judge Dredd.

Well, apparently adult Cosette is an imposter. Her eyes have changed from blue to green.

Still, it's only Cosette, so I care not. Where's Eponine's poster?

Cosette may not have a large part in the musical, but it's important. Kinda can't have the show without her, even if she's a human MacGuffin.

I'm sure Eponine will get a poster but the advertising seems mainly focused on Fantine/Valjean/Javert/Cosette.

EW scans, including our first look at Sasha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter as The Thenardiers.

I'm NOT going to read the script, but I'm hearing so many good things about it. Excited! I can't wait until this starts screening and we get some reactions.

I am the spoiler whore to end all spoiler whores and I clicked the script link but even the first few words were so good I stopped myself. I have never had the I don't wanna ruin it feeling, but it just happened! All to be enjoyed about this is in the *how* they tell it so I'm staying strong. For now.

I probably woudn't've clicked if I knew it was gonna be different, but from all reports it was pretty much the same as the stage so I didn't think anything of it. oops. I don't mind though. I'm just so pleasantly surprised. I was looking foward to the movie but I wasn't ueber excited or anything. Now I totally am.
