Did anyone watch this? I did not see poor Maggie Grace dying or that the gay neighbors were there as a part of James Purefoy's plan. The ending was a bit overwrought, and Kevin Bacon was little too tortured, but it was definitely creepy.

Re: The Following
I watched it and was underwhelmed. I felt like it was a retread of the much superior Red Dragon/Silence of The Lambs series and I guess I knew too much about the premise because I guessed every single one of the cult members the second they appeared. And the Poe stuff made me roll my eyes.
I was surprised about Maggie Grace, though. Thought she'd make it through a couple eps at least.
I'll watch again next week to see if I like it more.

Re: The Following
I thought it was a cliched and ridiculously self serious, just kind of terrible without realizing how terrible it was. It just seems like a tawdry gratuitous version of Red John on the Mentalist. Maggie Grace was the best thing about it and they killed her off.
Re: The Following
I found it a bit meh. It was trying really hard to be creepy. The only thing that scared me was the dog part. I didnt find James Purefoy to be very menacing or particularly charismatic. I do like Keven Bacon though, so I will probably keep watching.

You know this show would be a lot better if they dropped all the Poe mess. It adds an air of silliness to the whole thing.

Re: The Following
I still kind of like it, but the whole "I'm writing a story" idea gets a little too meta and makes it hard to get invested. If I were the FBI person in charge, I would not let the serial killer talk to Kevin Bacon. At all. I'd make Kevin Bacon go to some other country and not contact anyone. Don't give James Purefoy the characters for his story. But then, that isn't a good tv show story, which is why it's hard to buy into the "writing a story" thing.
With all the Poe allusions (with an "a"), I keep thinking of Tony Wonder.

I gotta say, I'm a little bummed about Paul dying. I was kind of rooting for the murder threesome to work things out. That probably says something disturbing about me.

I think it just says that they are the only entertaining part of the show.

Re: The Following
I know, right? But this show is so terrible that they are the only three that I didn't want to die horribly by the end of the season. Well, Kevin Bacon can stay, for his smart mouth.Raksha wrote:I gotta say, I'm a little bummed about Paul dying. I was kind of rooting for the murder threesome to work things out.
