TV Documentaries
I wanted to talk about Ken Burns' The Dust Bowl and couldn't find a place. Is anyone else watching this? I'm totally fascinated by the Dust Bowl (The Worst Hard Time was about as gripping as nonfiction can get), and the things those people went through to survive are astounding. Really looking forward to tonight's conclusion!

I completely forgot about the Dust Bowl. The last one on tv I watched was the one about Prohibition. I really enjoyed it and spent many days bugging my family with the random facts I learned.

The Dust Bowl was fascinating. It also cleared up something for me. My father always acted as if he'd lived through the dust bowl, telling me stories of the sky turning black. He'd tell me this, and I'd think, "Yeah, right Dad, you lived in New Jersey". It turned out that at least two massive storms made it all the way to the East Coast.
I also saw an interesting film about SeaWorld, called Blackfish. It's appalling that those huge, intelligent creature are kept in tiny tanks, forced to 'perform' in order to eat, and the way they treat the poor kids working there is horrendous.
