I just finished watching the series today, and I really enjoyed every single episode. It's rare for me to say that about a show.

I really like most of the characters- in fact, I think the only one I dislike is Pennsytucky, though Taryn Manning is knocking it out of the park with that role. I come from a place with a lot of meth-heads, and she has the look and the behavior down pat. It's scary.

My favorite character is Taystee. She's so full of spunk the screen just lights up whenever she is on. I'm really digging that actress, who ever she is. Laura Prepon is good, too- I think this role is much better suited for her than Donna on That 70's Show. She's even sexier now than she was then.

Well this kinda sucks. Although not my favourite character (Tastee for the win!), I did enjoy the performance and the character's interactions with Piper and Nicky. Judging by tumblr and youtube, this news might break the lesbian part of the internet.

Damn, I spoke too soon.

Huh, I wonder why? This is the biggest thing going for her in a long, long time.

ETA: I just found this. Learned a lot of fun things, like Pornstache is Liev Schrieber's half brother, and Pennsatucky is Peyton and Eli Manning's cousin. The Jared Leto thing is pretty funny.

I finished watching the first season last night and was surprised how much I liked the show as a whole. The individual stories of the inmates were very compelling and I hope they continue to expand on those next season. Was it ever explained how Red ended up in prison or did I miss that part?

There were some things I feel I was beaten over the head with in order to make a point, and there were times I wanted to have someone duct tape Piper's mouth shut because she seemed to lack the ability to shut it herself. But I do think that when the second season airs, I'll tune in.

I read this whole thread thinking Taryn Manning played the girl who od'd and was so confused as to why people thought this role was a stretch for her. I just now figured out she's Pennsatucky, which yeah, wow. Didn't even recognize her.

I love so many characters. I think the deer story was probably my favorite scene of the whole series so far. And I'm hoping we get more time with Poussey next season as I really love the actress.

In all the scrutinizing of Piper's actions, I have to say, it's really Alex who I find to be kind of awful. I mean, I don't deeply hate her or anything, but I mostly can't make sense of her character or figure out why I should care. I also think Laura Prepon is still kind of awful and manages to seem like she's overacting in trying so hard to look ironic and detached. She basically wishes she was Natasha Lyonne is the vibe I get, I guess.

I don't understand why fans all took Alex's side because I find her very unsympathetic. Piper can be awful but Alex

Laura Prepon to return for one episode next season.

I think she probably left a critically acclaimed role because she was uncomfortable with either the nudity (as she stated) or the lesbian scenes. I have to say, I respect her more than the actors who take roles and then refuse to do whatever it is they don't want to do. Unless she told the showrunners that she wouldn't do those scenes anymore and they chose to cut her storyline.

That said, I find the Piper/Alex storyline the least interesting, and her being gone means it can't be at the forefront.

Yeah, I'm more than happy about this. Knowing there won't be a Nikki/Alex/Piper love triangle next season is a huge relief. Nikki's one of my favorite characters and I would've hated seeing her get dragged into all that.

Huh. I mean, it didn't seem like they were pushing her too much in that direction. She only had one scene that I can think of that was an actual, like, nude/love scene (and that was literally in the first thirty seconds of the show.) It seems strange that that would be her reason for dropping out.

There's also the possibility that Scientology told her to stop being on a show with so much lesbianism, regardless of her own scenes.

Just finished watching the season last night and I really liked it.

I'm kind of glad to hear that Laura Prepon will not be around next season as she bugs me and I didn't really like Alex either.

My favorite part of the show is seeing all the backstories to all the characters and finding out why they're in prison. I'm really interested as to why the nun is there. There was a passing reference that she killed a man so I can't wait to find out about THAT.

And wow is the Daya/Bennett relationship dooooomed. I find Pornstache both hilarious and disgusting at the same time.

Taystee and Crazy Eyes are my favorite of the other prisoners so far. Both actresses are great and really entertaining, in different ways of course. I want to know about Crazy Eyes' white family.

Taystee and Poussey are my favorites. Apparently they are also BFFs in real life, which just makes it better.

The scene where the two of them were doing their impressions of what white people are like killed me. I was laughing so hard I had to pause it.

We finished it last night, and I still think Piper and Alex and Larry are the least interesting people on the show. I practically cheered when Crazy Eyes told her she was a bad person. (Also, a friend at work went to school with Uzo, so I'm totally two degrees of separation from Crazy Eyes, ha!)

I was so, so sad for Miss Claudette. And Tricia. And even freaking Pennsatucky. (Though she totally got what she deserved.) I think my problem with the show is that everyone else comes across as these very real people, and Piper and Larry are totally cardboard cutouts of some kind of hipster douchebags you couldn't pay me to spend time with, heh.

I'm already on Episode 4.

Just finished episode 4 too. That was a great episode. I remember last season tons of people were talking about each episode on TWOP. Where have they all gone now that TWOP is gone?

Beats me. AV Club has a thing for the first two, but they're going to mete out their reviews slowly. There will be a "You Watched The Whole Damn Season Now" review up soon, I think.

Now I'm up to Seven.

You know what I love about this show? How it strives to give EVERYONE a moment of sympathetic focus. Like, even Fig. Fig! Who is a horrible human being.

Just finished the last episode. So much to process, but it will have to wait until after I watch the tennis and get some food.

Just noticed a funny thing about episode 5. It was directed by Andrew McCarthy (of Pretty and Pink fame), and in one scene there's a shot of a cardboard cutout of him in the front of a convenience store (one of those lottery ads, maybe)? I wonder if Jodie Foster puts herself in the episodes she directs?
