What Are You Listening To?
I can't stop listening to Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye featuring Kimbra. A blogger I know linked to it the other day and I've been listening to it over and over again since. The video is really weird and the song is trippy in a good way.

Re: What Are You Listening To?
I've been obsessed with the throwback synth pop soundtrack from Drive since I saw the movie, particularly Under Your Spell by Desire, Nightcall by Kavinsky, and A Real Hero by College featuring Electric Youth.
All majorly addictive.

I just downloaded Gabriel Kahane's new album, Where Are the Arms. It's really, really good, but quite the downer. I had to follow it with "Mr. Blue Sky" just to escape the funk it left me in.

Florence + the Machine's new album leaked this week, so I've been listening to that a lot. (I do plan on buying it when it officially releases.) "No Light, No Light" is maybe my favorite track so far.

Re: What Are You Listening To?
I bought Kelly Clarkson's new album yesterday and have now listened to it five times.
Anyway, the title track is my favorite and I've already added it to my workout mix. But I'm digging almost all of it. Tonally very similar to "All I Ever Wanted," which is okay with me because I liked that album a lot.

All of the new Achtung Baby cover songs are on YouTube now, and I can't stop listening to the Killers' version of "Ultraviolet."
Re: What Are You Listening To?
Even though they broke up last year, I've been listening to Castledoor a lot again lately. Their Follow the Dove EP is so awesome, and they have a funky, eerie quality to lots of their songs.

Listening to The National's album High Violet right now & having an emotional experience. I've listened to this album a bunch before and something about the lyrics and Matt Berninger's voice is just getting to me today.

I should really give the National another try. None of their albums did anything for me when I listened to them last year, but people on my LJ flist seem to just love them so much that I feel like a heathen for not enjoying any of their work.

Night Work by the Scissor Sisters. I only got into them last year because I figured they were overhyped, and boy, was I wrong.

Re: What Are You Listening To?
It gets said a lot about them, but The National really are a band that can grow on you over time. I love them, they're my favorite band right now.
I bought a copy of The Dum Dum Girls' Only In Dreams at the record store the other day and really like it. (Also, it's on pink vinyl! Very pretty.) They have a very '60's girl group sound, but the album was written after the lead singer's mother passed away, so even though it's very pop and catchy, some of it's really sad and moving.

I just downloaded Florence + The Machine's Ceremonials mainly because it was on sale at Amazon, and it's really fantastic. I love Florence Welch's voice, and clearly I need to listen to Lungs more outside of "Dog Days Are Over."

Re: What Are You Listening To?
It took me two years to finally begin to "get" Lungs, so it'll probably be some time before Ceremonials grows on me. I just love Florence's whole dramatic and ethereal vibe. So far "Shake It Out" is my fave track on the new album, but I haven't listened to the entire thing yet.

Controversy over authenticity and lip-fillers aside, I am really loving Lana del Rey's Video Games and Blue Jeans right now.

I may or may not be listening to the new Glee Christmas album. Does it matter that it's only November 9th? No, it does not. I love Christmas music and I'm extremely picky about it.

I'm loving The Kooks "Junk of the Heart (Happy)" so much. It won't get out of my head. It's nice to have a good ear worm for a change.

Re: What Are You Listening To?
I know that I'm a total Jellyfish fangirl, I accept that. Which is why I accept that I just iTuned Jason Falkner's "The Plan" and have had it on repeat for the past hour. Makes me cry.
(Seriously. Go buy some Jellyfish/Imperial Drag/Roger Joseph Manning Jr./Jason Falkner music. You won't be disappointed.)
(Also: Drake Bell. Yeah, he's a Disney kid but he's hugely influenced by Jellyfish and has some great songs.)
(Also: wine. I'm on vacation. Sue me.)

I heard Of Monsters and Men's "Little Talks" on the radio a few weeks ago, and I have not been able to stop listening to it since.

I bought the new Florence + the Machine last night, Ceremonials. It definitely has a different feel to Lungs, but I'm enjoying it so far. For me, the standout tracks are Shake It Off and All This And Heaven Too.
Re: What Are You Listening To?
I need to buy that. I loved Lungs.

Re: What Are You Listening To?
I don't know what made me think of this band, but I am in the middle of a Virginia Coalition spree on Youtube. I think I still have their first CD somewhere, bought because one of the band members was on a message board I used to frequent. Apparently in the interim they got famous enough to have a Wikipedia page.
