I loved it, too. And I have to say, the detective Gillian Anderson hooks up with is the most nuclear-hot Irishman in a world of many nuclear-hot Irishmen. Lucky lady. I mean, well, for as long as that lasted.

Re: The Fall
Thought it was great - subtle, slow-burning, psychologically-complex, not overly gory. Just how I like my serial killer shows. Couldn't have been more surprised by Jamie Dornan's performance. I feel bad for dismissing him as a generic, pretty-boy type before - he is really talented.
I tried to get my brother to watch it but he switched it off after fifteen minutes - said it was boring. Which is weird because he's a big fan of Manhunter, which treats the material in a similar (i.e. restrained) way.
I hope the second season is as good.

Just finished watching this. I thought it was great. Really good acting, the story is not rushed. I was surprised to see it was a Netflix Original, as I'd heard next to nothing about it, but House of Cards and OitNB get tons of press.
Didn't know the lead guy or recognise his name, so I looked him up on imdb afterwards and was shocked to discover he's Christian Grey! I guess when that casting was announced his name didn't sink in as I'd never seen him in anything. I thought he was very good in The Fall.
As for the ending: <snip> dammit, I cant get spoiler tags right!

Re: The Fall
This might sound bizarre, but it's also one of the most accurate portrayals of Northern Ireland that I've seen on television. Probably because it just lets the characters be characters instead of generic racial stereotypes with sub-Daniel Day-Lewis accents.
Am I the only one who ships Gillian Anderson with John Lynch in this? Most likely it's because I've had a crush on him since The Secret of Roan Inish, or because they had a tragic love child together in Bleak House.

I shipped her with that hottie she had the one-night stand with, but...things didn't work out on that front.

Re: The Fall
I watched it all as it aired, and while I didn't like it as much as the first season, it's still really good.
I'm really curious to see how everyone reacts to the Big Scene (you'll know it when you see it) and the end.

You'll see, but not for a while. I thought they were going in a different direction with Creepy Motel Guy, but they do have something in mind.

Re: The Fall
I felt it wasn't as good as season one, but still gripping, especially towards the end. My one issue was that Spector makes a crucial error that seems out of character for him and made no sense to me.
My favourite game to play while watching was spotting all the shooting locations in Belfast where I now live. I walk through the Botanic Gardens almost every day!
- Spoilers ahoy. Don't read unless you've finished Season Two:
- He has creepy babysitter/protegee destroy the SD card he hid in the hotel room which had incriminating photos and videos of the woman he abducted. Yet when he's arrested, they find a video of her on his phone. After throwing his laptop into the pond and erasing his tracks, to make a stupid mistake like this seemed odd. Did he want to be caught at that stage? I was sure the evidence would turn out to be inadmissible because it made him seem so stupid.

Re: The Fall
I binge watched all of season 2 in one sitting last night. It's such a great show, mostly because it's anchored by such excellent acting performances. But I must also admit, I love Gillian Anderson is just about anything. For me the biggest problem I had with the season was the whole Jimmy subplot, which was so shoe-horned in there. It just seemed like that part of the season could have been handled better.
And it must be said, Jamie Dornan is pretty much terrifyingly mesmerizing every second he is on the screen.
