I kept thinking about how great a dramatic actor he is, and how that makes his lines even funnier because he knows exactly when to dial it back or go full on Homicide:Life on the Street.

The example I always think of is Sterling Hayden in Dr. Strangelove playing it strait being completely earnest while spewing batshit insane monologues. Being all Daffy would just make it too obvious.

Ugh, Eva Longoria. I don't know why, but I just can't stand her.

I loved the whole beginning - guessing why Amy was late for work. She fell through the subway sewer grate and had sex with a mole-man!

I am excited for Steven root as Boyle's dad though.

Shalamar, she drove me crazy here. I generally don't mind her, but she kept taking her jacket off in court! And fidgeting! It was all I could focus on by the end. Stop it, Eva Longoria's character.

The episode was wonderful, though. One of the better ones in a long time. I want to quote the whole thing, but my favorite had to be Terry Crews' tone of voice when he said, "The challenge is keeping the buttons on."

Terry Crews continues to be awesome.

He does talk some about his character on the show portraying "good" masculinity, but I adore his thoughts on feminism and breaking the "Man Code."

I <3 him.

And I liked Eva Longoria's character more in this past episode. She had some good lines.

I had never heard of USPIS until this show. I loved the post office nerdery. Someone's gone postal and bought some muffins! And the fact that the Ed Helms character won't use email.

She prefers if you call her "Hey, you."

That Gilmore Girls detail for some bonding between Diaz and Boyd was perfect.

Apparently Andre isn't leaving the show. Thank God! I adore Captain Holt.

Any bets on who the new Captain will be? Someone on Reddit suggest Nick Offerman, and oh my goodness, I'd love that.

I'd love that! As long as it isn't Ron 2.0. But I trust Michael Schur.  (I mean, all of his shows I've seen have followed similar patterns without copying too much.)

Which brings to mind this. Other forums I've read have compared April from Parks and Rec to Gina. Am I the only one who sees more April in Rosa? Rosa seems like the sort of person April was trying to be, but both of them have soft sides. Gina's... I'm not sure. Maybe a bit like Kelly from The Office? Though she does have April's sturdy loyalty to her boss (regardless of how lazy she is/pretends to be). Gina might actually be closer to what April was in season one of S1.

Yeah, they do interesting spins on plots they've done on The Office.

"The Jimmy Jab Games" is the premise of "Office Olympics", but they take it somewhere else that is more appropriate to these characters.

Same with the plotline of Amy with her big conflict resolution binder; also an Office storyline, but they always find somewhere else to take it.

Yeah, someone on Reddit wasn't happy with Amy and Jake's kiss at the end of Season 2, but I said "You know what? Those guys made it work with Leslie and Ben in Parks and Rec. They were an amazing couple and made the show even better. I trust that this will work out."

(Honestly, how amazing was that kiss? I may have replayed it a few times during my Season 2 rewatch recently. Ahem.)

Apparently the new captain is going to be Bill Hader. I love him, so that works for me.

It's back! Woot!

Oh, and regarding what I'd posted before:
About Bill Hader being the new captain? Never mind. :) Although I'm even more excited about the Vulture being the captain. Please, PLEASE have him be around longer than Hader!

This.

I LOVED the twist though. I cracked up, and I'm often not one for darker humor.

Also, how they handled Amy and Jake was terrific.
Spoiler:
For a moment there I thought they'd broken up for "real"/until the end of the season, but they basically condensed what would've been a season of tension and resentment and revelations in some shows to a single episode. I think Michael Schur has learned from The Office and Parks and Rec that a lot of viewers find those arcs more annoying than anything else. I should've trusted him more! (Although how Leslie and Ben were written after all the drama of season four was amazing.)

(How long do we need to use spoilers for?)

I'd put my trust in Shalamar, so the twist was hilariously unexpected!

The pigeon costume was awesome. When it was staring in at the Captain through his office window, I was dying.

I just started watching this show and binge-watched the first two seasons and caught up on the current episodes as well, and I love it. I loved seeing The Vulture as the Captain. When he walked in and said, "Hey, dummies" (or something like that) it was so like Dennis Duffy and I couldn't stop laughing. I'm glad they seem to be done with Kyra Sedgwick's character now though because she was starting to bug me.
