Terminator Movies

Post  laddical on Thu Oct 30, 2014 8:19 pm

Terminator: Genisys article from EW.

I have to admit, I like the idea that the timeline has become so convoluted that Sarah has been raised by an 800 at this point. It's weird. But it's "time travel is a pain in the ass" weird, and I love that stuff.

But the look of this movie, just from these promo shots is... unfortunate. Especially the ones where everyone is rage-screaming while shooting. Those are embarrassing.

I don't even recognize Emilia Clarke. I guess it's because I've never seen her outside of Daeny's platinum blonde wig. Apparently she's a brunette. Who knew.

And I wish I didn't recognize Matt Smith. I know he's trying to make it state-side now, but yowsers....

Honestly, I kind of wish they'd just do a hard reboot instead of this wonky semi-sorta-kinda. But the thing that still bugs is that title. It still looks like a typo.

I do not like new Kyle Reese, I think I would have preferred Smith as Reese, this guy seems like Sam Worthington but even more bland. Hopefully he has charisma I'm not aware of, but I'm not gonna watch Divergent or the last Die Hard to find out.

I hope they do this well, because I really do think Emilia a perfect re-conceptualized Sara Connor.

I suffered through the last Die Hard, and he is every bit the charisma black hole that Sam Worthington is cubed.

Matt Smith just seems... wrong. Like, fundamentally wrong. Like, the idea of him as John Connor's battle-hardened lieutenant or a T-868 or anything other than the Doctor having stumbled into a timey-wimey mess of killer robots just is a huge DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Well, on the plus side, we will definitely be getting a lot of fan fic where the Doctor does indeed stumble into a timey wimey mess of killer robots. The crack potential here is very high.

First Terminator: Genisys trailer is out, it's a mixed bag, but I think I mostly like it. Kahleesi is as cute/badass as expected, Courtney as bland as I expected, I'm very confused about CGI de-aged Arnie v. later on when he's..aged? Like what is that about? I was glad to see Old John Connor's scars as consistent with the 1984 vision of him, but the make up or CGI looks really janky. OH and that emo whatever crap song at the beginning really bothered me, thank goodness they segued to the OG theme now with more geee tar, pretty much I'm pavlov about that song, so I got really excited once it started.

Should I keep pretending nothing after T2 happened?

There's some good stuff in Three and Four, but not really enough.

Clarke looks about ten years younger than Linda Hamilton did in the first movie.

I can't get past the misspelled title. Were they trying not to piss of Christians?

Funnily, both actresses were the same age for shooting. Also, Sarah Connor was supposed to be 19 in the first movie, and I never bought that.

Ha, I was so confused by that quote about "Clarke" because I forgot that's Khaleesi's real last name, so I was like what does it matter if Jason Clarke looks younger than Linda Hamilton? Sometimes I've really very blonde.

I don't think Emelia's youth stood out to me, but that is because every time I watch OG Terminator I'm like look at what chipmunk cheeked baby Linda Hamilton was.
