That's so sad. She was fantastic in Lone Star.

Lone Star is one of those movies that people forget about but is just so wonderful. Elizabeth Pena was in so many things I loved - too young, so sad.

I just tweeted about Lone Star. Such an underappreciated film, and an underappreciated actor. Way too young.

Oscar de la Renta. The man designed some of the most beautiful gowns ever. I loved his fashion lines. Everything seemed elegant and fresh without being over-the-top.

My sis texted me about his passing, and I initially read it as Oscar de la Hoya and was absolutely shocked. De la Renta lived a good, long life so he's earned a bit of fabulous peace and quiet up there.

I loved Oscar de la Renta's clothes. They're so PRETTY. It's amazing that women from Nancy Reagan to Katy Perry have worn him. He could design clothes for the not-thin, too. I wish I could afford just one of his dresses.

My mom's go-to perfume is Oscar de la Renta. It's also very pretty.

RIP, sir.

Yes, he was a wonderful and really enduring designer. I read an article about his business recently actually and the involvement of his children. It was fascinating. He lead a really interesting and long life.

NPR's Car Talk Tom. I knew when they went off the air that one of the brothers was probably sick. I am so glad they are still re-airing the show.

It's been a bad week for Toms in Boston. Brady, Hamilton and Bergeron should probably lay low for a while...

I'm so sad about Tom Magliozzi. We always listened to Car Talk in the car growing up. I keep thinking about his poor brother. They seemed so inseparable!

Diem from RW/RR Challenge

I had heard that she'd had a third recurrence of cancer, but didn't know it was so advanced. Very sad.

Original BSG, Buck Rogers and Knight Rider creator Glen A Larson. Thank You for Erin Grey in spandex sir!

RA Montgomery creator of Choose Your Own Adventure books. Never knew the name, but I loved the product when I was a kid.

Also The Fall Guy, Quincy, Magnum, Manimal (oh my dear Lord, what a dreadful show; I think it lasted three episodes), and too many others to list. NPR kept running stories about this on the various weekend shows, so I've had the Knight Rider theme in my head for hours.

He was 83?! He didn't look it to me! Well he had a long and accomplished life and made the most of his years. He deserves some rest and peace.

With Mike Nichols' death, unless someone bigger dies in the next few months, I think we can safely assume that all memorial sequences in the awards shows this season will be bookended by him and Robin Williams.

Mystery novelist P.D. James has passed away at age 94.  She was always one of the most popular authors with the patrons at the library where I worked.
