Re: Death Pool
I am very sad to hear this. I haven't read one of her books in a long time but I well remember my cousin's converted attic where all her books were on shelves and there were some Jackie Collins' on there. This is in Aunt Noreen's house btw so while the rest of the family would be doing summer vacation things, early teens me would spend the majority of her time in the attic reading these salacious novels and every couple of pages, I'd have to stop and think "but how would that work exactly?" and then try to figure out the mechanics of the human anatomy and what was described on the page.
One report of her death mentioned that she'd kept news of her cancer so private that even Joan Collins only found out two weeks ago. Of course everyone deals with these things in their own way but I'm not sure I'd be too happy if my sister was sick for years and only told me shortly before her death. But then I don't know what kind of relationship they had and maybe Joan was happier not knowing.

Oh man, we have his pizza seasoning in our kitchen. It burns like fire, so my husband only uses it when he wants to feel the pain.

Lamar Odom isn't doing well.
People is reporting that he's been having strokes ever since he got to the hospital. I feel really bad for Khloe. I always got the impression that she still loved and cared about him.

The lovely, feisty, Maureen O'Hara, at 95.
I loved her. She lived a good, long life. RIP, Ms. O'Hara.

David Canary, passes away at 77. He was devilishly fun as Adam Chandler on All My Children, for 26 years, RIP.
Re: Death Pool
Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots is dead at 48. He was found unresponsive on his tour bus and it's a good bet it's drug related.

Re: Death Pool
Either actual drugs or his body just gave out, I'd guess. I was sad to read that, but not surprised, unfortunately. I'd read an interview with him ages ago, and to say he had demons was an understatement. I hope he's at peace now.
ETA: I missed that about David Canary. He was delightful. It was always so fun to watch him play Adam as Stuart, or vice versa. (Or Adam as Stuart pretending to be Adam.)

Goddammit Scott.
I watched something a long time ago where Slash and his Velvet Revolver buddies were rolling their eyes and saying "Not this shit again" when Scott would skip rehearsals, studio time, etc. He was a real vocal talent and it's sad that he was so tortured.

Cris Cornell and Eddie Vedder are the only vocalists left out of the big five grnge groups. Unfortunately with Cobain, Staley and Weiland we all saw it coming.

TCM Remembers 2015
There were several in there I hadn't known about, and I had repressed the memory that Nimoy died! I just looked at the NY Times obit and realized, oh yes, I read this already.

Not an actual celebrity, but celebrity-adjacent, Michelle Dockery's fiance, John Dineen has passed away from cancer.

How sad, he was very young! I saw her on Colbert last week, so he must have gone downhill quickly as I can't imagine she'd have left him to do publicity.

It sounds like he was in hospice care for this last little while, and she would dash off to do short trips for work. Maybe they figured it would be less intrusive for her to go do the press events than to have to get into explanations about why Lady Mary wasn't there. What a sad thing.
