I told my mom yesterday, and she paused for a minute and then she goes, "to be honest, I thought she was already dead."

Oh my god, don't watch this unless you are free to openly cry. So beautiful.

I'm not even familiar with the movie in question, but that was weirdly emotional. The voiceover comes off as eerie once someone has passed away.

She divorced him so I think she gets credit for those years.

I've read plenty of books and articles about Saturday Night Live, and the people behind it. Most have mixed feelings about their tenures on the show. Many overtly hated their time there, and the people they dealt with.

Not one had a single unkind or critical word to say about Don Pardo. He seems to have been universally loved by the people there.

Another icon of my childhood gone. He (and Art Fleming) even appeared on Weird Al Yankovic's "I Lost on Jeopardy!". That was the first time I ever saw what he looked like, after hearing him for years announcing the old Jeopardy! show.

Eris, thanks for sharing that. Don Pardo seems to have had a good, long life. RIP.

Whatever else you can say about Dave, this is one thing he's really good at. I teared up watching that, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

RIP Don Pardo. I will miss that incomparable voice.

70 decades at the same company, he must have been liked.

He also got on Weird Al and Frank Zappa albums.

British actor & director Richard Attenborough dies aged 90

Very sad to hear this. He was such a stalwart of British cinema.

Robin Williams, Sir Richard Attenborough... I hope Danny DeVito's okay. Poor Mara Wilson.

I'd heard he was not in great shape, especially after the loss of part of his family in the tsunami. He lived a long, fulfilling life. I hope hes in peace.

I did not realize Richard Attenborough was that old. He will always be Big X from The Great Escape to me. I liked him better in that than Jurassic Park

He'd had a stroke in 2008 and a fall down the stairs. He was a phenomenal actor.

Me, too. I love Big X.

Also, Gandhi was a very good film. Very well directed.

Joan Rivers, aged 81.

I caught a fairly recent standup performance by her on TV not long ago, and nearly peed myself laughing.

I will be honest and say I had become less and less of a fan of Joan Rivers in recent years (some of her comments, particularly those about the Palestinians were extremely hateful, imo) but I grew up loving her, and her era of Live! On the Red Carpet and the post awards fashion shows of the 90s truly shaped me and my humor and probably what a snarky bitch I am. I'll miss that Joan and I hope shes at peace.
