Re: Commercials
"Totes McGotes" is the new catchphrase that all the middle-aged dudes in my office like to shout at each other as they pass in the hallway, which follows "HUMP DAAAAAAY" and "Because, APPARENTLY, riding the dog like a pony is FROWNED UPON IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT!"
But I still find "Totes McGotes" amusing, so I haven't progressed to wanting to murder any of them yet over it.

Re: Commercials
The stupid "forever young" kohls commercial had me in tears everytime I saw it, to the point I'd actually change the channel.

Ha! Well, unless they've decided to have him sing songs about MLK Day, that ad campaign should be wrapping up.

Same here. Not one litle sniffle, at all.

I have this horrific vision of a "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" Honda commercial which will not go away.
On the good commercials side, I just saw a Bing commercial saluting awesome women of 2013 to the tune of Sara Bareilles' "Brave".

It makes me SO ANGRY that they use Brave to sell effing Microsoft tablets. The song is about her friend struggling while coming out. Â So what, you're brave because you're using a freaking Microsoft product in public instead of an iPad? Eff you, Microsoft.

I agree completely. One of my favorite songs this year, and I have to change the channel when those commercials come up.

Re: Commercials
The Little Ceasar's commercial where people on the street keep yelling increasingly random things to the couple who decide to get pizza confuses the hell out of me. And then I get sad and angry that I'm confused by a Little Caesar's commercial.

It's great that Apple got into the Pixies, but is the song about a big dick the one to use for an ad?

I cannot stand the Sprint Framily commercials. Stop trying to be Wes Anderson, Sprint. Only Wes Anderson can do that, and sometimes even he doesn't get it right.

The one with them in the bedroom and her in a neglige is so creepy.

During my semi-regular meetups with my mother to watch Scott Pelley immediately followed by Wheel of Torture and Jeopardy!, I often ask my mother the following sane question: WHY IS THE DAD A HAMSTER?
I finally asked Google to tell me. At last, everything made a certain sort of sense. This is not an American ad campaign. It is a Japanese ad campaign adjusted for an American audience. In Japan, they have the Shirato framily, where the father is a dog and Tommy Lee Jones is the framily's maid. Apparently these commercials are wildly popular in Japan. I regret to inform them that not all Japanese imports have the same impact on American audiences as, say, Ringu or Ju-On.

Oh my god yes. Not as creepy as the weird dancing zombie Orville Redenbacher from a years back, but still ... blargh.

I've still never actually listened to any of those marionette ads with the sound on, and maybe it's the silence that's adding to my horror.

I hate those Sprint "Framily" ads. They're not the least bit funny to me.

They are almost Bunuelian in their surrealism. By which I mean that watching them makes me wish someone would slice my eyeball open with a razor blade.
And they make me feel very sad for Judy Greer.

I wasn't impressed by Kyle Mooney on SNL and the family ads haven't helped.
Also the father is a hamster. There has to be a Richard Gere joke in there somewhere.

"The Boy Who Beeped" was one of the dumbest ads I've seen. It made no sense and it just wouldn't end.

No, no, the Time Warner ads with Coach Cowher take the prize as the worst. They're directionless, poorly lit, and incredibly awkward, like Ed Wood directing Waiting For Godot.

Re: Commercials
The Tina Fey "What's your 20?" American Express commercials drive me nuts because they always run the credit card backwards. I get that they want to keep the "american express" visible, but with transparent cards it's very clear they're running the side without the magstrip.
