Re: Bad Movies You Love
Dude Overboard is the best. "I'm a short, fat, slut." And I totally don't cry every time the Pee Wee Herman kid gives her the macaroni necklace.
Re: Bad Movies You Love
Or humanity would die out.The Glen wrote:"Flash I love you! but we only have 14 hours to save the Earth!" I love it.
I have this theory that if they showed The Room to every teenager, abstinence-only sex education could possibly work.
Birdemic is at least a companion piece to Wiseau's Magnum Opus. "Such as seals."

Has anyone else seen this version of Beauty and the Beast? It used to be on the Disney channel all the time when I was little. My sister and I memorized all the (terrible) songs and dialogue. And I own it on DVD. It did not hold up well, but I love it still.

Overboard is the shit. Bollywood has remade it multiple times for a reason.

For those of you who are fans of The Room it will be featured next week on Paul Scheer's podcast How Did This Get Made one of the guest commentators will be the dude who played Mark and was also the line producer on the movie. It should be posted next Monday.

I don't consider Overboard remotely bad, so I hadn't thought to mention it here. I adore that movie and will NEVER EVER dare skip it when it's on TBS!

Re: Bad Movies You Love
So the people who host monthly screenings of The Room in Dublin are putting on a Christmas party/screening where "Mark" will sttend to talk about his new book (about The Room, naturally). This will be fun.

Mark is hilarious btw. I've read interviews with him. He tells all, has affection for the movie and recognizes how horrible it is.

Oh that's good to hear. I remember reading an interview with Lisa/Juliette Danielle, she was a really good sport about it all, but said she doesn't go to screenings because the gratuitous nakedness embarasses her now.

She was very young. In one interview the dude who plays Mark said she was 18 and right off the bus.

Re: Bad Movies You Love
What disturbs me the most about the whole Room thing is how horrible fans are about Lisa. I've heard that at screenings people shout derogatory names at the screen, which strikes me as nasty, if not a little misogynistic. After all, the actress was very young, and I have nothing but sympathy for her given the dreadful material and Waseau's decidedly unwholesome interest in her. I mean, she was hardly the worst actor in the piece, and yet she gets an inordinate amount of hatred.
Re: Bad Movies You Love
Having gone to screenings they hate on everybody. And she really does have the most unlikable character. I don't think it has anything to do with her or the acting just that shes playing a character who at one point pretends shes pregnant to keep things interesting. They yell out things at everyone on screen.

No no no. It was New Fransylvanimenistan, where men are pale, creepy Eurotrash and the women are blonde and bratty. I can understand your confusion though, as New Fransylvanimenistan shares a border with Yugotransylslovekia and the vague, garbled accents are fairly similiar.
I want to go to one of those screenings of The Room SO BADLY. It looks like such a blast.

Add me to the list of Overboard lovers. Is it true that they are going to remake this movie with Jennifer Lopez? I really, REALLY hope that's just a rumor.
I also love The Cable Guy. Don't judge me!

I LOVE Overboard. It's one of those movies I expected to hate and ended up delightfully surprised by. Now Birdemic, on the other hand...it's so bad one can only watch in amazement and horror. On the positive side, all of the $5.79 it obviously cost to make is right up there on screen.

Crowbridge, I may start seething soon. That better be a rumor because that movie should be off remake limits. And why JLo anyway? I guess it could be somewhat of a biopic for her considering she seems like a reformed diva herself, like Annie.

Re: Bad Movies You Love
While visiting my family this weekend, my brother, my cousin, and I noticed that Top Gun was available streaming on Netflix, and we HAD to watch it. I know it's a totally terrible movie, but I can't help loving it, if only for its sheer quotability. The movie also become unintentionally hilarious
And just TRY to get "Danger Zone" out of your head after watching that movie. It sticks with you for DAYS.
- Spoiler:
- after Goose dies because Tom Cruise's attempts to act distraught with grief just don't work.

I don't hate The Cable Guy, but I don't consider it a bad movie by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, it was well constructed and Jim Carrey is a better actor than anyone gives him credit for.
Lord help me, though, I still love Snakes on a Plane.

I've said this before, but it bears repeating: If loving Face/Off is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Me neither. My husband and I still quote Nic Cage's hilariously sleazy "I can eat a peach for hourrrrrrsss" line.

Nicolas Cage and John Travolta are both having so much fun in that movie. I love it too. The death of Travolta's son is the most hysterically dramatic thing ever.

Face/Off is hilariously over the top while also being incredibly earnest. Plus, CCH Pounder!

My favorite scene is Nicolas Cage in the Priest get up. That or when John Travolta but really Nicolas Cage taunts Nicolas Cage but really John Travolta about how he gave Joan Allen the ride of her life.
