Re: Film Trailers
I saw the Titanic trailer when I went to see Hugo, and I don't know if they're not done with it or what, but I though the 3D looked TERRIBLE, like they were little puppets against a background. I don't understand how you would go back to a previously filmed movie and make it into 3D, so maybe you...can't really do that. But it looked SO dorky that I actually giggled while I was watching it.
I loved Titanic when it came out (it's probably in my top five still of Volume of Tears Shed While Watching) and I have a lot of affection for it, but I don't think I'll see the 3D version. If you're going to rerelease a gigantic EVENT movie though, what better than this one? (Aside from 3D Star Wars, which I also saw a trailer for.)

Re: Film Trailers
I can't get behind the Titanic re-release. I was working in the cinema when it was out in 1997 and it was just months of crowds and grumpy latecomers buying tickets for the front rows and getting pissy, despite being told their seats were front row, and don't get me started on the amount of parents who cursed us out for not letting their under 12 year old daughters in to see it, despite it being strictly over 12's. The film classifications have changed since, thank goodness. For the entire time that was on release, everyone would head to the pub after work for our nightly support group session.
I have seen the film but I'm not pushed about it.

Re: Film Trailers
Saw a trailer for the 3D re-release of Phantom Menace today. At first it didn't dawn on me that was the specific film they were advertising. When it finally hit me, I was incredulous. Isn't that chapter of the saga fairly well villified by the fandom?

Re: Film Trailers
Yes, but it's the "first one", so they're starting with it and going in order.

Re: Film Trailers
I don't care about the prequels, but I feel like I would see them in the theater if they put it in order of Star Wars, Empire, Phantom Menace, Clones, Sith, Jedi.

Re: Film Trailers
Seriously, since he's pretty much stated he's never going to stop tinkering with the movies, he needs to just rename all the movies and put them in that order officially.

Re: Film Trailers
I had completely forgotten Bruce Willis was going to be in that movie. I guess I could go to IMDb to figure this out, but did they re-cast Scarlett or is that a new character?

Re: Film Trailers
I can't tell if I liked the trailer because I had such low expectations after the first movie or because it was genuinely good.

Re: Film Trailers
I just love the whole, "There's one man we can trust" bit paying off to be Bruce Willis, because it's not like he's playing a specific character (in as much as the trailer tells us). It's just, it's Bruce Willis. As far as the trailer is concerned, it may as well be he's playing John McClane.

Apparently I forgot as well since I started giggling insanely when he showed up. I am so there.

Re: Film Trailers
I never saw the first movie, but just comparing the two trailers, I think the sequel is going to be 1000% more awesome than the first. I knew Bruce Willis was about to pop up onscreen and still laughed and clapped in delight when it happened. And I have an irrational love for both the Rock and Adrienne Palicki, so I'm thinking this is definitely going on my calendar.
Re: Film Trailers
I loved the musical and I have to say that looks really fun.

Same here. I can't tell if Chana is going to love this, or if I'm going to have to sneak out of the house to see it on my own.

Is it weird that we never really get a good look at Tom Cruise? Are they hiding him, or building anticipation?

Re: Film Trailers
I think they are building anticipation. The way it lead up to the last shot being him made me think that, along with the general way the trailer was put together. It was more "HEY! WE GOT TOM CRUISE, OMG!" then "Shit we gotta pretend Tom Cruise isn't in this movie." to me.

Re: Film Trailers
My reaction to the Rock of Ages trailer is "meh." It looks okay, I guess, but doesn't look nearly as fun as the stage musical was. And I really miss the young German guy character, he was awesome and hilarious. Why did they need to replace him and his storyline?

Okay, y'all know how everyone was freaking out over the end of the HP series? Yeah, watching that latest TDKR trailer is giving me that feeling of sadness and semi-panic. I don't want the Nolan/Bale franchise to end yet! Or ever.

Re: Film Trailers
After reading the last two posts I tried going on youtube to watch the trailer. Of course it was all fakes. I finally found it through a google search and "Holy Shit" doesn't even come close. FUCKING HELL! That was intense! And kudos to Anne Hathaway bringing it in her monologue, over the trailer. Definitely gave it the perfect tone.
I can't even begin to talk about how crazy that touchdown scene was! Yeah, I'll be there opening weekend in IMAX.

Re: Film Trailers
The official TDKR trailer, at last.
OH MY GOD.
It doesn't have quite the same gut twisting punch that TDK had where I felt like there was no way the movie could possibly be as good as what those trailers put in my head. Maybe it's just that I'm expecting Nolan to knock it out of the park.
My only real quibble, though, is the shot of the football field collapsing. I just don't see how a runner couldn't *sense* the ground shifting like that, even if he was staying ahead of the actual collapse. Even with the questionable science of the microwave emitter in Begins, that's easily the most fantastic and out-there thing I've seen in Nolan's series and I'm hoping it's not one step too far for it.
