Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I'm sure I read somewhere that Jeremy Renner asked for too much money, and thus got dropped. Of course, I can't provide a source for that. It could be nonsense.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I saw somewhere that he actually filmed a scene for Cap II that was cut, but I don't know for sure.
Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I read that there would be a reason given for his and Banner's absences in the opening part of Age of Ultron.

Banner at least gets a (somewhat jokey) nod in the post-credit scene in Iron Man.

Fortunately, the opposite seems to be the case.

Sorry, I meant their absences from the movies between the two Avengers movies, not from Avengers 2. I should have been clearer.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I don't think you even need to explain Banner's absence because he might still technically be a fugitive and even beyond that Hulk is not exactly who you would call in for backup. Hawkeye is a little more difficult, if only because they blew up SHIELD but all you need is one line about how he was on a covert mission.

Guardians of the Galaxy - Trailer 2
I just can't even with how excited I am. When I came out of Thor: The Dark World, I summed up my review to a friend as, "It's the best Star Wars movie since Empire."
I'm thinking I should have saved that bon mot for this movie.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I dunno, looks more like Farscape to me. However, I do really like it. Three months? I want it now!
In other news, Hugh Jackman wants to be in the Avengers. No. Absolutely no. That's the great thing about having X-Men and Avengers by different companies, we don't have Wolverine hanging around like a bad smell. For some reason he's in all the comics, we don't need him in all the movies too.

I am so excited for Guardians, I can't stand it. How did that happen? I generally don't care for the space stuff that Marvel does (although I gave the most recent Guardians book a chance, because I knew the movie was coming up and I was surprised to find I actually liked it).
Also, Wolverine? No. Fuck you. You've already made ALL of the X-Men movies (save First Class, thankfully) all about you. I don't need a Wolverine takeover of the Avengers as well.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
1) Once again, major props to whomever is doing the music selection for GotG. Now adding "Spirit in the Sky" to "Hooked on a Feeling"? So awesome. And seriously, how is it that I can't wait for a movie with characters I knew nothing about 3 months ago?
2) I must be the only one, but I really like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and I would really like to see him interact with the rest of the Avengers. I don't even mind that it's him that's getting sent back in Days of Future Past, rather than Kitty Pryde.

I dislike Wolverine, but find Jackman likeable enough that he makes me dislike Wolverine less! Still, would prefer he stay out of Avengers...

I love their music choices for this movie. And if they do not release the soundtrack as My Awesome Mix Tape, I'm gonna be very, very sad.

Bad news for the Ant Man movie. The director Edgar Wright left over "creative differences." They say it won't affect the release date, though.

Well, that's good news for all the people who are Ant Man fans and find Edgar Wright's involvement incidental.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Edgar Wright's been working on this film for 8 years now and it was his vision that was guiding it, so I don't think he was incidental to the process. Even if you hate Wright, if you love Ant Man and want to see a great film, I'd be worried, because they now have a little over a year to re-envision and shoot the thing. And, I imagine, re-shoot the stuff that's already been shot.
It can't just be "creative differences". To lose the writer/director so far in and with so little time left before principal shooting, it has to be something else.

I don't know if anyone's been following the "For Strat" campaign on Twitter but a rep from Marvel brought a copy of Captain America: The Winter Soldier to him to watch today.

I'm pretty sure skyblade was being sarcastic. No one cares about ant man and was only really interested because of the director.

I get the feeling that Wright didn't want to make certain changes to his script necessitated by the long-term plans Marvel has in place for the MCU.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
See, I didn't get that because I work with a bunch of comic geeks who LOVE Ant Man as much if not more than they love Edgar Wright. So, I've been having a similar argument at work, but without any sarcasm. None of them are thrilled that they lost Edgar Wright, though.Kiran wrote:I'm pretty sure skyblade was being sarcastic. ...Really? Which one? Because I enjoy Scott Lang a lot but trust me when I say that Ant Man fandom (especially of Hank) is....rare.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I want to say Hank Pym because of their initial disappointment that it was going to be about Scott Lang and not Hank. I'd like to clarify that I know little to nothing about Ant-Man in general so I can't really elaborate. I tend to tune out when they go to in depth about these things. They did come to the conclusion that it had to be about Scott Lang and have him as the hero because Hank Pym wouldn't fly (heh) as a superhero these days. My understanding was that Hank Pym was morally questionable. Or just plainly not a great guy. I could be wrong in my understanding, I really wasn't listening carefully.
