The Lizzie Bennett Diaries
Has anyone else been keeping up with this?
For those who haven't, it's a completely charming modern-day adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, brought to us by the wonders of internet video. But beware, casual viewer, for it does not simply consist of Lizzie's videos. It is a veritable rabbit hole of vlogs, twitter feeds, tumblrs, facebook pages, and more.
(Here's the behind the scenes site to help you keep it all straight.)

Never heard of it. Thanks. Though I am always weary of something that I want to check out for 10 minutes and somehow emerge from a daze 10 hours later, wondering where the day went!

I think I said "whoa" about five times when George Wickham showed up.

Argh. I am sucker for all things Austen, and this is definitely a rabbit hole, as you say. Fun idea though.

George Wickham is very nice to look at indeed, but as soon as he opened his mouth I got douche vibes from him, so that's perfect for the character. Bing Lee is freaking ADORABLE and dreamy, and I'm tapping my foot impatiently waiting for William Darcy to show up.

100% what you said queenofdenile. I did enjoy the comments that suggested Colin Firth was going to play Darcy. Which would be hilarious, and also wrong and age-inappropriate. I don't think anyone was sad about Wickham's abs though. Those were nice.

Re: The Lizzie Bennett Diaries
I'm really hoping we see Darcy for the first time during the proposal. Like, Lizzie will be doing a live blog for the first time and William Darcy just waltzes in and she's so stunned that she forgets to turn it off.
Or whatever they do in lieu of an actual marriage proposal. Because they HAVE to show that. They have to. They can't not.

We're up to the awkward nonsensical Darcy visit! It can't be long now!

Well, since we'll be getting another Fitz (and how cute is he?!) appearance in the next video, I'm thinking we're very close indeed. Because I'm thinking that will involve the "Darcy got his best friend away from some gold digger and he's pretty proud of that" slip.

I spent far too much time over the weekend catching up on these. Considering how adorable Bing and Fitz are, I really hope they have an appropriately hot Darcy.

And hot. And awkward (so awkward). Also, Lizzie's facial expression in the last 10 seconds make me giggle very loudly.

I was really hoping he'd be dressed like a Newsie...

He doesn't seem naturally awkward, though, if you know what I mean. It just seems like he's an awkward actor. I hope he settles in over the next few episodes.

Re: The Lizzie Bennett Diaries
If Darcy watches the backlog of Lizzie's videos, how will he still justify breaking Jane and Bing up?

"You called me a robot. And...a Newsie." Oh my god, his delivery. I could barely contain my laughter. I don't know why that was so funny. I literally had to put my hand over my mouth so no one at work could hear me.

Re: The Lizzie Bennett Diaries
He's handsome but OMG the suspenders. OMG the bowtie. I can't decide if I love them or hate them.
This guy's definitely got potential - easy to see why Lizzie can't stand him, but I still felt for him when he confessed his love and she shot him down. So far I'm rooting harder for Bing and Jane, though.
And um, is it wrong that I find Ricky Collins pretty adorable? I can't help it.

I think they have done a great job giving the supporting characters more depth. I can see how Mr Collins is annoying as hell, but he seems much more good intentioned and earnest here. Also, I kind of love Lydia, they have done a great job making her a person. Kitty is clearly the best though.

He's just so cute! So obnoxious but I want to pinch his cheeks anyway. And then send him to the other room because he'd drive me up the wall within five minutes.

Yes, they do a great job with the secondary characters. Lydia is my favorite, and Charlotte is also much more interesting than in the book. Mary also likable. It is hilarious that Kitty is a kitty and Anne is a dog and I don't miss them at all. I miss Mr. Bennett, though.

Re: The Lizzie Bennett Diaries
I have a LBD related query - can anyone recommend some of the better books based on Pride and Prejudice on available on Kindle? I'm sure there are gems out there but when I read a plot summary that piques my interest the story inevitably has bad reviews noting the poor grammar or some such.

Re: The Lizzie Bennett Diaries
Do you mean inspired by the story, like Bridget Jones' Diary (which I liked) or the Jane Austen Book Club (which was ok), or those using the actual characters, like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (good idea, but boring)?I have a LBD related query - can anyone recommend some of the better books based on Pride and Prejudice on available on Kindle?
I think a lot of Jane Austen "fan fiction" type stuff is pretty bad. The best I've found is the series by Pamela Aidan, which retells P&P from Darcy's POV. It's a 3 book set, and the first is called An Assembly Such As This, which follows very closely to the original. The second volume is where it gets really wacky, since Darcy pretty much disappears in the middle of P&P, there is an entirely new adventure there. Then in the third volume, it returns to the action of the original book. I think the series does pretty interesting things, but it's not amazing.
The other ok one I've found is Death Comes to Pemberley, which is a mystery. It's ok.
Oh, and they are all on Kindle. They're "real" books sold in stores with editors and such, so no grammar issues.
