I...also thought it was action dust. Until...very recently. Like five seconds ago.

In the song "We Can't Stop" I didn't realize she was singing dancing with Molly, I thought she was singing "dancing with my Li" as reference to her then-fiance.

Don't go, Jason Waterfalls, please stick to the Lindas and the Jakes that you're used to...
I saw that on Twitter during the TLC movie this week and died laughing.

I thought she was saying "dancing with Miley" because she's just that up her own ass.Snarryfan wrote:In the song "We Can't Stop" I didn't realize she was singing dancing with Molly, I thought she was singing "dancing with my Li" as reference to her then-fiance.

This thread reminds me of an old ad that I used to love.
Now I always sing 'my ears are alight' rather than 'me Israelites'

I know what the actual line is but I still always hear it as "my Swedish friend" in that Goo Goo Dolls song.

So, when I was little, I thought K.D. Lang was singing about her Cousin Gravy and not a Constant Craving. I will still purposely belt it out the wrong way to this day.

You get a double Mondegreen here: In the Chromeo song "Jealous", there's the line "But when the boys from out of town/They come back around/I feel like committing a crime"
The Shrewette thought that last part was "I feel like a rodeo clown". I assured her that of course that couldn't be it, and the real line was "I feel like I'm ready to cry". Whoops, we were both wrong.

In Tracy Chapman's 'Fast Car', I misheard "Your arm felt nice wrapped round my shoulder" as "your arms and legs wrapped round my shoulder". I don't know how I thought he was supposed to be driving at the same time.

In "Ladies' Choice" from the 2007 film version of Hairspray, Zac Efron is singing a supposedly wholesome song about being a heartthrob. (For those who haven't seen Hairspray, it takes place in the '60s and there are definitely references to sex but they're all tongue-in-cheek. Like the main character singing about a boy and how they "won't go all the way, but we'll go pretty far!")
The supposedly wholesome aspect is why the lyric, "Hey little girl, take me off the shelf, 'cause it's hard having foreplay with yourself," always confused me. Why would they take the song from supposedly wholesome to straight up dirty? It doesn't even make sense in the context of the song!
And then I just learned the actual words are, "Hey little girl, take me off the shelf, 'cause it's hard having fun playing with yourself." OH.

Re: Misheard Music Lyrics
In Taylor Swift's Blank Space, I kept hearing her sing how she "got along with Starbucks lovers." I had to look it up because the line made so little sense. Were these lovers she met at Starbucks? Did they only go on coffee dates? Were these lovers really bland and samey, like a chain coffeeshop? Is that why they'll tell you Taylor's insane--she's too much of a unique snowflake?
Apparently she's "got a long list of ex-lovers." That actually makes sense.

Me three! Solidarity! I was convinced it was Starbucks, but I was also convinced that was wrong, so I finally looked it up.

Re: Misheard Music Lyrics
I knew it was probably wrong but also considered that Taylor's written more inane things so I figured it could go either way.
