Ralph Waite, aka John Walton, Sr. He also had recurring roles on NCIS and Bones.

"I collect molds, spores, and fungus" might work better at this point.
A great talent who somehow never received the same celebrity status as his co-stars.

What?! No. No. This is terrible. He was so talented and hilarious.

Damn. I'm sorry to see him go. He was a foundation of my sense of humor as a kid. And also a great collaborator with some icons and legends.

Awww, his voice is so familiar and comforting. It's brought so many trailers to life, and now that Mr. Douglas has departed, I hope he'll rest in peace.

So many happy memories of watching him on all the talk shows in the 70s. He was ever delightful.

I'm actually kind of looking forward to the bitching out he's soon going to get from God.

Eh, I feel like taking too much satisfaction in his death is wasting emotion on someone who doesn't deserve it.

Re: Death Pool
This is the best response I've seen so far to the news:
"Fred Phelps thrived on our attention throughout his life. He deserves none of it in his death. Let's collectively agree to let this one go. No protests. No awful posts. Just silence. Maybe a little reflection and nothing more. He doesn't deserve any better and we all certainly do. #WontBEremembered #weDECIDE" from Brian Sims, a member of the PA House of Representatives.

Re: Death Pool
Agreed. Though one of the best tweets I read tonight, "It'd be delicious if the last thing Fred Phelps saw was that animation of evolution on Cosmos." I admit, I enjoy the idea.

What I'm really wondering now is what will happen to the WBC. Will it run out of steam, or has someone new taken over to revitalize it and that's how he got tossed out?

I'm wondering if he wasn't tossed out so no part of the WBC risked being part of his estate, or similar legal maneuvers.
Let's all hope the church and its doings die with him.

James Rebhorn. I'm sad to read that. Good character actor & felt he was in everything for a while in the 90s.
