The Avengers

I went to see it again with my son and wife yesterday. Third time for me, second for them. Just as great as the other times; he still hated when Coulson got killed and loved it when Hulk shook Loki like a ragdoll. We can't wait for the Bluray.

I saw it again last night in an audience that was half geek girls and boys and half people who had apparently missed the first run entirely. Someone actually said "oh no!" when Coulson died. It was fun to see it in an audience that laughed as hard at "Puny god" as the opening night audience had.

So according to ONTD, what they thought might be censorship regarding a certain scene with Coulson (*meaningful look*) on the UK DVD release actually isn't, but is in keeping with how the film played in UK cinemas because it had a 12 cert. Now when I saw it in the cinema, that scene was how the US saw it. I suppose the film classification people here reckon that as it had a 12 accompanied cert, any potentially traumatised kids had an adult there to shut them up take care of them.

I hope we don't have the same DVD print as the UK though. But what's this about no DVD commentary on the releases here. That's the real crime here! Or something.

I can't remember which version of that scene I saw in the cinema, but I am pissed about the lack of extras on the UK DVD. There's one teeny-tiny making-of featurette and that's it - no deleted scenes, commentary etc. I'm glad to have the film, but for such a big DVD release it seems a bit stingy.

It's a wildly popular and successful movie, and they know fans are clamoring for extras, so why would they only include one BTS feature? That's a head scratcher.

It's almost like the film industry wants pirating, because I'm sure fans who missed out on extras are going to go online to download them when they become available.
