Re: What Are You Watching
Avatar: The Last Airbender continues to be awesomely excellent.
I started watching Forever. It's nothing new if you've ever watched Highlander, which I have to the bitter end, but it has Ioan Gruffudd and I am powerless to resist that. So even though I wonder why nobody has noticed that a city M.E. sometimes gets arrested for walking around naked and soaking wet, it's not the worst and it has Judd Hirsch as well and it's always good to see him on screen.

I'm really enjoying that show, QueenSix. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but Horatio Hornblower/Connie from L&O is keeping me watching.

Ioan Gruffudd and Alana de la Garza make such a pretty combo on that show. They both have such great hair.
Unlucky Bear, like you say it's not groundbreaking but I do enjoy a show about an Immortal fighting crime that doesn't seem to take itself too seriously.

I actually kind of love Forever. Ioan Gruffudd is so charming and Alana de la Garza so pretty that it doesnt even matter what else is going on. And Judd Hirsch is just a bonus.

All the Forever love is making me happy. I set my DVR to record it, but haven't watched yet, because I was waiting to see if it would get cancelled immediately.

I'm really enjoying Forever. It's a lovely mix of seriousness and humor and the flashbacks that put Ioan Gruffudd in period costuming is a major plus. I really hope it gets another season.

Despite the title Selfie is turning out to be a cute little funny show that will probably be cancelled early because I really like it now. And the ratings aren't great.

I'm so glad I decided to tape Jane the Virgin because it is a DELIGHT. The premise sounded so ridiculous that I almost couldn't believe all the advance reviews that loved the pilot. But it's so much fun! The voiceover, the on-screen text, the lovely performance by Gina Rodriguez as Jane (not to mention Andrea Navedo as her mother), plus the hilariously over-the-top soapy elements which provide just the right amount of silliness.

Jane the Virgin IS a delight, and just so winsome, if I had to lose the utterly adorable Anna Sophia Robb from my CW jams, I'm glad the equally adorable and blessedly Latina Gina Rodriguez won her spot. It's also apparently a "hit" whatever modicum of ratings qualify now a days, and has a full season order, so yay!
Re: What Are You Watching
I'm full on in love with that show right now. And yes, that's pretty much a guarantee that it'll be gone by Christmas, which is a shame because I find it delightful. I had to laugh at how timely the Renee Zellweger observation was. They couldn't have planned that better if they tried.TiffanyNichelle wrote:Despite the title Selfie is turning out to be a cute little funny show that will probably be cancelled early because I really like it now. I really like Selfie and want it to succeed. I should stop liking any shows until they get at least 3 years in, sigh.

blixie, I know someone you hate who is going to be on that show soon, heh. I don't know how often she is going to be on it though - maybe it's just a one episode thing, I don't know. Here's a hint: she used to be on GH and I loved her and you hated her from the word "go" pretty much. :)

I LOVE SELFIE TOO! I want it to succeed also because it's kind of charming and adorable.

I adore The Peoples Couch on Bravo. It shouldn't but it cracks me up.

I love Selfie too! Each episode is better than the last and I am so invested in the romance. And its really nice to have an Asian male lead that is allowed to be a romantic option.
I also love Jane the Virgin too. the last ten minutes of this weeks episode had my jaw gaping open.

I loved his line last night about red-headed Korean kids. I totally ship it.

That was great.
My favorite moment though was the Eddie Murphy cry.

My favourite moment was also the Eddie Murphy cry. Though, I also did like the line about red-headed Korean children. And when Eliza and Charmonique sang "No Scrubs".

I've fallen down the Kdrama rabbit hole. Right now I'm watching Mary Stayed Out All Night on YouTube and it's effing adorable. And the lead actor on that one gives me Feelings.
When I'm done with that one, I'll probably watch the one on Viki about the pop group that becomes farmers because that looks effing absurd.

Re: What Are You Watching
And now I can't stop watching Boys Over Flowers. PLEASE SEND HELP.
At least this one is available on Netflix, so I can watch it during the day when I'm not on my laptop. And I get an extra giggle, because I watch it on my TV using my Blu-Ray player, which I bought used and I can't unlink it from the Netflix account of the previous owner (who I can't contact because I bought it through a third party). So now they're going to log onto their account and see their "last watched" list consisting entirely of little kids shows like Bob the Builder and the Disney Tinkerbelle movies and...a Korean drama.

Re: What Are You Watching
We're immersed in season 2 of The Paradise on Masterpiece, and I am thoroughly enjoying it (as I did season 1). I do think, however, that a better title would have been A Bunch of People Who Seriously Need to Get Laid.

To be fair, that's a good working title for 98% of everything that's ever been on Masterpiece.

Heh, good point. I, Claudius being one of the 2%, I think. Plus I have to think Lewis is a lucky guy now that he and the M.E. are finally a couple.

Re: What Are You Watching
I am totally out of touch with industry news and ratings and all that fancy TV lingo, so I was caught off guard to find out A to Z was already canceled. I wasn't a huge fan, so I wasn't very disappointed, though I wonder how they were planning on continuing the story after the initial premise of their 8 months of dating was over.
Does anyone know how Selfie is doing in the ratings? I am really enjoying it, more with each episode. So glad that cutebutpsycho talked me into giving it a shot! Even Karen Gillan's accent has improved!
And oh - Jane the Virgin remains a delight. It's one of those "no, seriously, give it a shot, despite the ridiculous name and even more ridiculous premise!" shows that I hope keeps getting the critical praise that it deserves.
