I am putting this news about a Now and Then adaptation here, because a. I'm not sure where else it should go and b. it will be my #1 guilty pleasure if it gets made. Seriously, I will flip.

I would watch that every week. Stop making secretly good shows ABC Family!

I would so watch that. My mom's adolescence was roughly the same era as the movie, and since she grew up in a Midwestern subdivision, too, it was always this wonderful bonding movie to watch together when I was a kid.
(Also, the actress who played Chrissy DIED? Whoa, 26 is young.)

Re: Television Guilty Pleasures
So I finally gave in on the Teen Wolf thing. I'd been avoiding it because I don't really care for werewolf stories and the clips of the makeup and non-special non-effects I'd seen seemed really cheesy. But thanks to a continued assault of amusing pictures/comments on certain tumblrs I visit and some enthusiastic posts here on Snarkfest, I finally started watching the first season. And promptly mainlined the entire thing in the course of two afternoons. Now I'm trying to get caught up on this season by watching the episodes at mtv.com, but the audio keeps randomly cutting out and it's incredibly annoying! I need my cheesy werewolf show, dammit!

I totally get the Teen Wolf thing. It's so weird, because I hate the actual lead teen wolf. I just think he's a terrible actor. And yet I found the show strangely compelling. I think I'll start grabbing season 2 once I've finished warring with whales and catching crab.

It's actually awesome. I too got sucked in by my young nieces. I avoid anything on the internets having to do with the adult fandom though.

Masterchef is my current guilty pleasure.
It's interesting to see the food trainwrecks, because there are ALWAYS some.

I love Masterchef! I also love to hate it. I was so bummed Josh got thrown off; Felix should never have gotten immunity, and Monti is so freaking annoying. Plus? She named her kid Danger! And her last name is "Carlo!"
I suspect Christine is going to win it all, though my husband, who is legally blind, is totally convinced that she's not any more blind than he is. (He's been offered the walking stick, but he turned it down.)

As of last night,
Christine did an interview about how blind she is, it's not complete but very significant.

Re: Television Guilty Pleasures
My brother introduced me to Repo Games last night. People who are supposed to get their cars repossessed get a chance to get 3 out of 5 trivia questions correct to get the car paid off in full instead.
Questions included "Which historical figure is the father of our country?" (The women debated between Bill Clinton and President Lincoln - finally settling on Lincoln), "Which restaurant uses an owl as part of its logo on its waitresses' T-shirts?" (Hey! I used to work there!), and "Red Delicious and Granny Smith are two types of what?" (Kidney Beans? Muffins? Onions? Got to be the beans!).
It's hilariously awful.

"Which historical figure is the father of our country?" I'm not American, but isn't it George Washington?

Why didn't anyone tell me that hot blonde English vampire guy (Neil Jackson) from the tv series Blade is on Make it or Break It? I've been glomming episodes just to see the coachy hotness.

I kind of fucking love the Duggars. They are so nice. I can't even.
edit: I kind of fucking love them in spite of everything they stand for, which is everything I don't, which is why I really don't want to like them, but I apparently can't help it.

They are nice as long as you fit into their world. I don't know I have a lot of really huge issues with them (and in particular their attitudes towards women) that I won't go into here. I used to like their show until the Creationism museum visit. It was a cute show as I recall.

Re: Television Guilty Pleasures
And the Stephen King references keep on comin' on Revolution. "They're just children!" "Yeah. Children of the CORN." And Randall's full name is Randall Flynn, which seems awfully close to Randall Flagg. He's played by Colm Feore of Storm of the Century fame, another Stephen King screenplay. Born in sin? Come on in!
I knew I had to watch this week's Castle because it takes place at a con. One of Fillion's first lines is "Shiny!" along with Joss Whedon name dropping. It was cute.

Castle was lousy with in-jokes this week, wasn't it? The murder was centered around a "fan-experience" on the fake bridge of an old sci-fi show called "Nebula Nine." As he and Beckett approach the set, he says something like, "This show was only on for twelve episodes, ten years ago, how are people still getting so excited about it?"
The best, though, was Castle's into scene, where he was signing a graphic novel for a guy wearing a t-shirt that said "Number One" Castle fan. As the guy walked away, Castle said, "How the mighty have fallen."
The guy? Jonathan Frakes, episode director and former "Number One" of the Starship Enterprise.
The best part is that I didn't get the t-shirt reference until well after the episode was over.
I'm probably in the minority, but I much prefer the silly episodes of Castle over the SERIOUS BUSINESS episodes.

There were also some names that were tributes. The actress who played Lt. Chloe's last name was Frye (like Kaylee Frye) and the dead girl's boyfriend's name was Simon (like Tam) and the bad guys on Nebula Nine were Kreevers (like the Reavers). It was fun trying to ferret them all out!

I have been watching Ink Master, largely due to the enviably shiny and glossy hair sported by host Dave Navarro. It's so pretty, I remember it better than any of the tattoos.
The show itself has really bad tattoo artists being allowed to tattoo people for some reason, but his hair is beautiful.

For the life of me, I do not understand the people who agree to be on this show as the clients. You have untalented people and a short period of time for massive tattoos! And they intentionally assaign the artists to clients who want tattoos that the artists aren't good at! These are permanent alterations to your body! One woman got a tattoo with Corinthians misspelled!
As for Dave's hair, it looks like Marlo Thomas circa That Girl!

I am watching and enjoying The Neighbors. I scoffed as much as anyone before it started airing, but now I actually think it's perfectly good family fare and not deserving of the scorn it gets.
