He needs to lose everything before he changes. Unfortunately, enough people still kiss his ass that I don't see that happening any time soon.

Exactly. He needs a hardcore reality check, but the odds of him getting one seem slim to none at this point.

Via PrincessCleo on Twitter, this interview with the Chicago reporter who has been investigating and reporting on R Kelly since the '90s makes me sick.

R. Kelly is just disgusting and his recent resurgence really doesn't sit well with me.

Re: Celebrities and the Law
I hate how quickly the media 'forgets' about this stuff - especially when it's men doing it. R. Kelly, Mike Tyson, Mark Wahlberg - they've all done vile, repellent things but we're all supposed to just pretend like it never happened now? Because it's in the past? Winona Ryder can barely get mentioned in an article without her conviction for goddamn shoplifting getting brought up.
(Although thinking about it, all the victims of those men had one thing in common: they weren't white. Ugh. That makes it all even more depressingly awful.)

Re: Celebrities and the Law
At least with Mike Tyson he was pretty honest about how wrong he was, and then steps he took and the therapy he went through to correct his attitudes towards women were more than most abusers do. I think rapists are the lowest of low, but I was somewhat impressed at the intensive therapy he went through, and discussing how domestic violence in his childhood conditioned his adult behaviors. As a child of domestic violence myself, it made me have hope that there is a way back somehow.
Of course now he's about to die from alcoholism, and of course he could be lying through his teeth.

Re: Celebrities and the Law
There is someone I follow in twitter who talked about R. Kelly hanging around her high school when she was a kid. And how he was creeping on every under-aged girl in the area. She first ran across him when she was twelve years old. And she had so many friends who recalled seeing him do his creeper grooming thing.

He's been in the grotesque creeper bucket for me since the Aaliyah thing, that no one else in the MM or the music media put him to the flames all these years, except for these two dudes at the Sun Times is shameful, that Pitchfork and IFC are propping the shit out of him is abhorrent. The Boondocks bit about him is just perfect. Yes the man can SANG, but he should be under the jail.

NaughtyZoot wrote:David Cassidy. DUI. Again.
I have no idea whether he was driving drunk but wow, they're pulling him over for some terrifying traffic violations. And by terrifying I mean so minor I didn't even know they were actually ever enforced. Right on red (which is totally legal in many states) and failing to dim his headlights?!? I suspect those are what the actual grounds for pulling over such as swerving or failing to stop were reduced to when they found out he's a celeb or for whatever reason (I have occasionally had an officer write a ticket for a less grievous infraction than what he supposedly pulled me over for, and I'm no celeb).

Re: Celebrities and the Law
Pulling a driver over for failing to dim headlights is pretty standard. A friend of mine was pulled over for that a couple of weeks ago and the police officer actually told him that it's considered an indication of possible OUI. I'd guess that illegal right on red is the same thing.

Re: Celebrities and the Law
Ah, that does make some sense, although the headlights thing has got to be a hard call for cops since there are such varying degrees of brightness in headlights at the regular level these days, and many are quite blinding without being on bright. Still seems like basically an excuse to pull someone over rather than an actual charge that is going to stick if you dispute it.

Felony warrant served at Justin Bieber's house over egg-throwing vandalism accusation. TMZ points out that if anything else illegal is found in the course of the investigation (like drugs), then it's fair game.

NFL star allegedly caught pleasuring self in Target parking lot by police says he was lost and looking for Boston Market. The synthetic marijuana found with him in the car, he thought that was legal, and the two open containers of Vaseline, he doesn't seem to have an explanation for that. Twitter has reacted predictably and even Boston Market joined the fun.

Re: Celebrities and the Law
Yeah, Lainey thinks the smile was intended to make him look wholesome and innocent. I think the opposite. He wants to make sure everyone knows he's a badass who's about that life and this isn't even phasing him. Now I REALLY hope they throw the book at him. Even Lindsay kept her "fuck you" on a subliminal level via nail polish.

Re: Celebrities and the Law
I've heard that publicists tell their clients to smile in their mugshots lest a Picture of Negativity haunt them forever. Hence that goofy-ass shot of Tom DeLay. Not that looking extremely pleased isn't also extremely bizarre.
I am kind of baffled at how this kid went from saccharine pop innocuity to entitled mega-douche. I guess having millions of dollars and adulation prematurely can do that to ya.

I've heard more than once that people aren't allowed to smile for mugshots. Is that just completely false then?
