Re: Celebrity Feuds
Holy shitballs! Ashton makes a mill per ep? That is incontrovertible proof that the human race is irredeemable. Enough people watch that crappy show that a salary that huge is actually justified. Insane.

I don't have a problem with his disliking the show now due to his religious faith, but it seems rather stupid to tell people not to watch and yet still stay on the show and hang on to that $300K per ep paycheck. If you're that adamant that the show is evil and filth, ask to be written out. Either that or wait until your contract is over or ask to be let out and THEN unload both barrels. I'd respect him more if he'd walk the walk.

Re: Celebrity Feuds
Seriously, doesn't he feel like a total hypocrite telling people not to watch the show but also choosing to remain on it? Also, talk about awkwardness in the workplace. That set is getting to be increasingly unpleasant with every passing season.

Well, to be fair, he's under contract, a contract that was entered into on his behalf. His religious awakening appears to have occurred recently.
Full disclosure: Never seen a minute of it, not even for Holland Taylor.

Yes, that's true. I guess one can't predict spiritual awakenings. Honestly though, it's in very poor taste to completely badmouth the show you're gonna be stuck working on until your contract is up. He must just really think it's that vile, I suppose.

I have no religious awakening (or religion, for that matter), and I think the show's vile. From what little I've seen of it ever, though. I unabashedly think Ashton Kutcher is lovely on the eyes, and I tried to watch it when he joined and couldn't do it.

Even the weekly previews for it are un-funny. I don't think I've ever even chuckled at one of those before.

Re: Celebrity Feuds
Apparently, Agnus's preacher is out there. Jay-Z is a Freemason with ties to Satan, Obama is Hitler-like, and in a food crisis women will start eating their children.
He apparently signed a new contract just last year when he was over the age of 18. Not that I think an 18 year old is going to turn down the kind of cash they were throwing at him, but it's not like he had no say or the decision was made years ago.

Well. I guess the filth cuts both ways.

So this means he'll be donating all the 'filthy' money he's earned to charity, mmm right?

Jay-Z is a mason? So... one of his 99 problems could actually be a bitch, but he'd have to kill you if he told you. Makes so much sense now.

Haha, that was my first thought too. Their major crime is the rampant unfunnyness.

And the residuals. He won't live off that filthy money in any way, yes?

Only since Idol's ratings started to fall in a major way, I think.

What.the.hell.
I do think it was unfair to bring up Bob Dylan, because he or any singer like him wouldn't have made it on ANY season of Idol. It's not a songwriting contest. And it's not like Bob Dylan or anyone in that vein would've bothered with a show like Idol, anyway, except maybe as some kind of prank. Which I'm sure Minaj would complain about, too.

Sounds like Kirk Cammeron who freaked out on Growing Pains, getting his love interest tossed from the show because she was a Playmate.
Which makes me wonder when we'll see a Christian buddy cop movie starring those two.

Oh, I had no idea that Kirk had his religious epiphany while on Growing Pains. I thought that was way after the show had ended.

Les Moonves fires back at Angus T. Jones.
We took this boy [Jones] who started with us when he was eight years old, and it seems to be what happens with child stars over the course of time," Moonves said. "He's now making over $300,000 per week, which is not a bad salary for a 19-year-old kid, and he went on a religious channel and urged people not to watch the show because it was filth. By the way, he's still collecting his $300,000 per week.

Is it in bad form what Jones said? Of course. As his boss, you want to bring him into your office & give him a good talking to? Yep, he totally deserves it. But a CEO in his 60s talking smack in the media about a 19-year-old is nothing to be too proud about. I don't think the original comments were worth dignifying with a response.

Re: Celebrity Feuds
Maybe it was in bad form to go to the press with those comments, but I had the same initial reaction to Jones' slamming the show. He can get all high and mighty with his religious conversion, yet absolutely no mention of the fact he's still cashing his paychecks. If Jones wants to find God, whatever, but don't ignore the fact that he can ask the studio to release him from his contract.
In a way I really do think that Jones needs to be called out on this.

He's 19. He's old enough to know exactly what he's saying. If he's old enough to go to war or vote for a president, he's old enough to know he shouldn't slam his job. Oh you think the show sucks. So do a lot of people. But the ones who work on the show aren't going around telling viewers to stop watching. I'm sure Jon Cryer doesn't think he's making high art.

I wonder if Jon Cryer ever wishes he'd picked Baltar on BSG instead.
