iPod Shame Files
... because I have to confess to having Dan Hill's Sometimes When We Touch somewhere.

Hey, sometimes the honesty is too much.
I have so much music that should belong here, but I refuse to be ashamed! Except for Katy Perry. Why must you be so catchy?

Some would say I should list Eddie Murphy's Party All The Time as a "shame" song but you know what? My girl *does* like to party all the time, party all the time, party aaaaaallllll the time.

There is no reason why I should listen to Gayla Peevey's kitschy "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" in October...much less in July. I have done so in both those months though.
Also, "Afternoon Delight" is so horrifyingly cheesy, but it's soothing (and hilarious) after a long and very annoying day at work.

Remember when Andy Taylor was in Duran Duran? Remember how they split up to do separate projects for awhile? Remember how he did a solo album called Thunder that featured a song appearing on the American Anthem soundtrack? I might have that album on my iPod. Because I'm a Durannie. And a completist.

Over the weekend I realized that I have the entire soundtrack from the first High School Musical on my iPod.

I do not have that on my iPod as he was not my favorite and I was fine with him leaving the band. I do, however, have a few Arcadia and Power Station tracks.
I also have a thing for actors that decide to sing, thus the Russell Crowe and Robert Downey Jr playlists.

I love the Newsies soundtrack, but lord, would I be embarrassed to have anyone catch me listening to it. God bless the iPod!

Hmm, can't agree with that entirely. There are plenty of songs from Newsies that I would be embarrassed for someone to see on my playlist, but "Seize the Day?" I will judge someone so hard if s/he DOESN'T sing along with that one.

I keep wanting to make my sisters listen to the soundtrack, so I can have people to sing King of New York with, but it's just all so unbelievably cheesy that they'd probably give me WTF looks and turn off the music. One of these days...

I have the Annie soundtrack, the one from the movie with Carol Burnett. I replaced the song titles with generic "Track #" listings in case anyone ever sees my screen.

Am I supposed to be ashamed of Toto's Africa or not?

You most certainly should NOT be ashamed of Toto's Africa. That's one of the iconic songs from my days as an undergrad, and it's still a great song 30 years later.

I always think of Chuck and Sarah holding hands in an S2 ep of Chuck while listening to their friends perform Africa live. It somehow elevates the awesomeness of what's already a great song. And slmader, I find it unbelievably adorable that your whole fam enjoys that song!

Africa is a really good song, but my favorite Toto song has to be 99. I just love that song.
Shame? How about Toni Basil performing Mickey... in Spanish?

Thanks to the shuffle button on my iPod, I was rocking out to Neil Diamond's "Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show" this afternoon at work.
I'm not ashamed, but I'm also a little relieved no one asked me what I was chair-dancing to.

I adore that song! I love how it's pretty much like a church revival and you want to get up and clap your hands along to the music. Pack up the babies and grab the old ladies, indeed!

I just downloaded Benny Mardones' Into the Night, otherwise known as The Pedophiles' Anthem. I can't help it, it's too damn catchy and dramatic to ignore.

I purchased Tony Orlando and Dawn's Bless You. I also have some songs from Yentl...even if Barbra Streisand was too old for the part.

I spent part of this afternoon listening to A Sesame Street Christmas on my iPod. You haven't lived until you've heard Bert sing "FIIIIVE ARGYYYYLE SOOOCKS!"

I never knew who sang that song! I hear it all the time on the radio and have never heard the artist's name, probably since I always change it quickly because it grates on my nerves.Crowbridge wrote:I just downloaded Benny Mardones' Into the Night, otherwise known as The Pedophiles' Anthem. "Shake Your Bon Bon" by Ricky Martin. It's so much fun to dance to (around my living room, that is).

I was singing along to The Legend of Wooly Swamp by The Charlie Daniels Band at work today.
... and the next song was Somewhere Over the Rainbow from Judy Garland's Live at Carnegie Hall cd. An odd pairing, that.
