iPod Shame Files

The Batman Forever soundtrack. And it's not like I've just had it lying around since 1995--I bought it about two weeks ago. And I may or may not be listening to it right now.

My Dark Knight Rises midnight showing group passed a significant amount of waiting time talking about how good that soundtrack is, so no judgement here.

I have no idea how this happened, but Madonna's "Give Me All Your Luvin'" (Party Rock Remix) (featuring LMFAO and Nicki Minaj) shuffled up on my iPod this afternoon.

I have no recollection of buying it.

That Madonna is a crafty woman.

I have the Disney starlet trifecta in a playlist I call 'fluffy.' First there was Hilary Duff's "With Love," which also has an awesome video, with mucho costume changes. Then there was Paul Oakenfold feat. Brittany Murphy (RIP, sniff, the girl had a dead sexy singing voice) doing "Faster Kill Pussycat." And just recently I added a song from my spin class that I was surprised to find was done by Lindsay Lohan, called "Bossy." Which could be my sometimes-theme-song.

"Bossy" is a secretly great song, but my favorite of hers is "Magnet," off her first album.

Shut up.

How many times have I played the "Gangnam Style/2 Legit 2 Quit" mashup?

A shameful number of times.

I cannot believe that I listen not only to One Direction, but I also now jam to Little Mix, a girl group featuring Zayn from 1D's girlfriend, Perrie Edwards. What is my life these days?

So, I needed to know what "I'm gonna pop some tags" meant, and I found this breakdown of the entire lyric. Some of the explanations are so dry I can almost hear them in the voice of the guy who used to narrate the Goofy "How To..." cartoons.

I'm obsessed with that stupid song. I won't break down and buy it but I will watch it several times on YT, heh. You know they're going to be on SNL.

Not only do I love that song with an unholy glee, I am also addicted to my local thrift shop (they get the COOLEST stuff) so it's been my anthem for months. I'm tickled that it's become such a huge hit!

So I've been watching that thing off and on all afternoon, and I keep coming to a point where I'm convinced that the guy in the pink suit is Michael Clarke Duncan. And then I look at it some more and think, "Nah." But then I look at it some more and I think, "Yes. Maybe."

I refuse to believe that anything Macklemore does belongs in this thread. But if you like "Thrift Shop," you will probably LOVE Can't Hold Us.

...just watch the whole Tiny Desk concert - they do "Same Love," "Thrift Shop," and "Can't Hold Us." The whirlwind of emotions in under fifteen minutes is wonderful.

I would expect myself to love "Thrift Shop," but I just can't stand it. I love the idea of the song, but the music is so annoying. The kid at the start always makes me giggle though.

"Can't Hold Us" on repeat got me through a deadline I never thought I'd hit. I definitely have no shame about loving Macklemore; I think he's extremely talented.

But the fact that even my mom has heard "Thrift Shop" at this point is pretty hilarious.

I just got all three DJShyboy/RuPaul Drag Race remixes.

Oh... and the motion picture soundtrack for The Wizard of Oz.

I may or may not have just had a huge "Shipping Up To Boston" dance party. Dropkicks are my weakness. I'm moving on to "Spicy McHaggis Jig" and "Kiss Me, I'm Shitfaced" Wine might be a factor.

There's nothing shameful about the Dropkick Murphys. Apart from wine. It should be Irish whisky or Guinness! And you're about a week early.

I have Demi Lovato's Unbroken album on my iPod now. It's pretty good. "Fix A Heart" made me cry on a bus this week. That tells you a lot about where my life is at, yeah?

I'm kind of ashamed of how much I listen to Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" these days. It's gotten to the point where I play it every other week on my radio show.

What even is that?

The Moog Cookbook. God, I love the Moog Cookbook. Classic hits and 90s rock done on synthesizers, in a totally tongue-in-cheek hilarious fashion.


Also: Drake Bell. Kid writes good songs!

Raksha, it's a song that always lifts me up a bit whenever I hear it. Nothing shameful about listening to it repeatedly. It's Journey, dude!
