Fall TV Season
It's almost time for the new season I'm trying to feel out which shows to give a shot.
Comedy wise I'm of course on board with The Mindy Project and I've heard good things about Kate & Ben. In the soap thrown down of 666 Park Ave v. Vegas and Nashville I'm leaning towards shows named after cities, and in the serialized genre show down I'm leaning towards Speedy and Pembleton's Last Resort over JJ's Revolution.
I've also got Arrow and Chicago Fire in my big dumb and pretty viewing slot.
While I am almost positive that BBC's Sherlock will be a better show, I SO prefer the idea of watching Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu take on the story, even if it is on CBS.

So far I've got down Arrow and Elementary, both of which I'm really looking forward to.
I had no idea Speedy was back on TV - guess Last Resort gets on the list, too! (with bonus Frank Pembleton!)

I was in NY this week and saw Lucy and Johnny Lee filming a scene, so I will at least have to tune in until I see that! I used to not really care one way or another about Lucy but I really enjoyed her on Southland so I will be tuning in.
I will also give Mindy's show a shot and Last Resort.

All of the ones I want to try have already been covered! I'm not too excited by the new shows this year.
The plot of Last Resort sounds entirely unappealing to me, but I'll give it a shot because it's Shawn Ryan.

Re: Fall TV Season
Dang, I didn't realise Speedman was in The Last Resort. I was totally going to be there for Andre Braugher and Dichen Lachman, but now that I know I have to endure Scott Speedman squinting through every scene, I'm not sure I can take it.
I'm really looking forward to Elementary. I love me some Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu. And I also can't wait to see Mindy Kaling's show. I want her to bring Ellie Kemper over to it, too, and then my two favourite parts of The Office will be on a brand new show.

I plan on watching The Mindy Project, but that's about it. For me this has been the most unappealing fall schedule in a long time -- most of the new shows look awful.

Re: Fall TV Season
Except for my disinterest in Last Resort and interest in Beauty and the Beast I'm in agreement with everyone else here. I saw the premiere of Go On and it looks funny enough but it loses out on the scheduling to New Girl and Happy Endings. I'm not giving either of them up for a newbie, no way.
Here's a schedule for those of you who want to plan your DVRing schedule. Yes, I have a bookmarked DVR schedule and I know that's pathetic.

I'll give 666 Park Avenue a shot because of Terry O'Quinn. I'm also planning on watching Go On because I liked the pilot, Revolution because of JJ Abrams, and Elementary because of all the people freaking out over Watson being female. I always do the opposite of psychotic fans. Haven't decided about Last Resort yet.

Re: Fall TV Season
I will probably only watch one or two episodes of Last Resort but I love Andre so much, I have to at least give it a try.
I too will watch Go On because I thought the pilot was decent and I love Matt Perry, plus John Cho's role is supposed to be expanded. On the other hand despite my like of Justin Kirk, Tyler Labine, and JoAnna Garcia, the pilot was horrendous! I felt sorriest for Annie's Boobs, she can't read the scripts unlike the others.
I also really have liked Mamie Gummer in her turns on the Good Wife and the one and only episode I managed to watch of that awful Shonda Rhimes show in the jungle, but Emily Owens looks so freaking dull. Likewise I was a fan of Jordana Spiro since freaking The Huntress, but good god damn Mob Doctor seems as stupid as it's title and my FNL alum love for Zach Gilford was taken away by the episode of the aforementioned white doctors in the jungle show.

It does which makes my realization that Justin Hartley is on it, that much more frustrating, because now I have to watch it on the off chance he will show his abs, and what if that never happens? Also frustrating because he could have continued to play Oliver McQueen on Arrow, I mean bitch please a Lilith Fest soapy doctor show is not a step up in the world.

I really really don't want Revolution to suck, and I'm really really afraid it's going to.

Re: Fall TV Season
I have this feeling that Revolution is going to try to do way more than it can and just be a big mess. But Eric Kripke managed to make a pretty good genre show in Supernatural so it might be good. Of course that show frequently tried to do a lot more than it could with poor results.
I'm most excited by The Mindy Project and Last Resort. And I am definitely going to watch Nashville, if only to see Mrs Coach!

I only lasted as long as I did with that jungle show because of Zach Gilford so I'll be forced to watch Mob Doctor too. Ugh.
Despite the fact that CBS is going to handle the subject matter with the subtlety of a sledgehammer I'm sure, I'm also going to watch Partners if for no other reason than I think Brandon Routh is hot. I'm also shocked there are multiple shows that CBS has coming out that I'm interested in with Vegas and Elementary.
I saw the pilot of 666 Park Avenue and there is potential there, mostly because of Terry O'Quinn and Vanessa Williams. I'll also probably check out The New Normal.

Re: Fall TV Season
So in the extended preview I saw for Revolution, and all of the commercials I've seen as well, it makes it appear that EVERY minority character is a bad guy. Anyone know if that's accurate? How could they do that?

Re: Fall TV Season
I'll give almost any genre show a chance, so 666 Avenue, Last Resort, Revolution, Arrow, and Beauty & the Beast will all get my standard 3 episode shot. I'm a bit concerned about B&B because I was a huge, huge, HUGE fan of the original during elementary school and I'm not too sure about the "Beast" being hot most of the time, but ok, sure, I'll try it. For dramas, I'll check out Meryl Streep's daughter on Emily Owens, M.D., Elementary (hack the Gibson!), and Vegas because I love Dennis Quaid.

Critics' choices for top fall shows.
Glad to hear that all of these were on my watch list except for Infamous which I'd not even heard of but I'm definitely intrigued now.

Re: Fall TV Season
You can watch the pilot ep of the Mindy Project (and Ben & Kate? Kate & Ben?) on its FB page.
OK, I saw both shows and I kind of like Ben & Kate. I'm surprised myself. The premise is boring, and the characters are nothing new, but Nate Faxon is funny, and so is the English best friend. Not sure yet about the Mindy show, but will DVR it, and because I'm loyal, will probably end up watching the whole season.

I haven't watched Ben and Kate yet but I liked The Mindy Project. It wasn't exactly laugh out loud funny but it was funny enough to keep me watching, especially since I already watch New Girl.

I'm most excited about Revolution. It has the potential to be a complete mess but it hits all the ticky boxes of stuff I like. Post-apocalyptic people with cross bows? Sign me up!

I saw the pilot for Revolution at SDCC and it bored the pants off me. I'm hoping that it was just the super exposition-y first ep and that it gets better. It only gets 2 more shots from me.

Re: Fall TV Season
I watched three new fall sitcoms that are available On Demand and online: The Mindy Project, Ben and Kate and The New Normal. I was kind of meh on the first two (I know it's an unpopular opinion but I just don't love Mindy Kaling the way I'm apparently supposed to) but I really liked The New Normal mainly based on Andrew Rannells performance. He was so funny and so touching that I actually teared up during one scene. Justin Bartha and Ellen Barkin are good too and I think the writing is strong. Of course, it's on NBC so I'm assuming the ratings will be crappy. I'm definitely all in for that one and I'll probably check out at least the second episodes of the other two.

Re: Fall TV Season
I plan on watching the pilot and the first few episodes of The New Normal because of Andrew Rannells. He has eternal good will from me for his excellence in The Book of Mormon. But it's a Ryan Murphy show, which means it will have a great start and then inevitably go to shit by episode 15 (and I'm being kind with that estimation). So I'll watch episodes 1-6, maybe, and then bounce.

Re: Fall TV Season
I'm the only person in the country who has never seen a Ryan Murphy show so I really have no preconceived notions about it. I also never saw The Book of Mormon so I had no idea how good Andrew Rannells would be.

Re: Fall TV Season
Did anyone see the NBC Olympics sneak peeks of Go On and Animal Practice? I have serious CONCERNS.
The thing about Go On is that it's hard to make a sitcom about a man grieving for his wife and the show makes the dubious choice of making the characters punchlines. Like we're all supposed to laugh at these pathetic losers getting group therapy like only losers do because group therapy is for losey losers who lose. Because therapy is funny? Or grief is funny? WHAT? There was a nice moment at the end where they decide to seize the day but the show needs to figure out just what the comedy is supposed to be.
The only thing I'm going to say about Animal Practice is that it features a monkey riding a toy ambulance.
