Another trailer for the new season has been released. It looks so good! After the disappointment of last season, I am actually really excited now.

I didn't even finish Season 4 because it was such a disappointment, but these trailers have me excited.

Re: Community
That's promising. Of course, I'm one of those people who actually preferred the first season, although I did quite like the third too - I didn't really like the second, and I didn't have patience for the fourth so I barely watched it. I just found the parodies a bit too much, preferring the more subtle pop culture/1980s references. I actually finally watched The Breakfast Club like a proper 90's kid, and a lot of scenes from season one suddenly made sense. But I like the show for what it's become too, or what it was trying to come before NBC tried to can it. I hope season five is more like season three again. :)
If it is still canceled, I can honestly see Community gaining a cult following a few years down the road, sort of like Firefly.
I will say one thing - I went to community college, and Dean Pelton's "THIS IS A REAL COLLEGE DAMN IT" insistence is... spot on to how some of my professors were. Nobody said we weren't a real college...

This place is a Zoo and you have to show all the baboons you have the bigger redder ass.
Decent start, Mike Ehrmentrout is a nice addition. He works better than Malcolm McDowwel did last year.

Re: Community
Too much Nic Cage breaking Abed was great, and damn they got Chevy to do one last bit or was that left over footage? Hee. I won't lie I really miss Pierce, and I can not imagine how it will feel when Troy is gone, though I can hypothetically see Troy being the one who would move on from Greendale the fastest and easiest.
Re: Community
When I say Community is back, I mean Community is back.
And also, being of the twenty-something generation, I can totally relate to "it's my school's fault I don't have a job!" even if in this case, it's kind of true. (And there is a community college near me - not the one I went to, fortunately - that's apparently not so far from being a RL Greendale. I should see if it's ever been sued...)

It was new! Apparently he and Harmon can get along, sometimes they are just assholes to each other. Abed's Nic Cage induced break was the bestest thing. I'm a sexy cat!"

Re: Community
Ha oh wow, Dan's basically admitting the contractual agreement was in part a request from the cast to not work with him again. Ho. "What if he was just on a sound stage alone with no people?!" Damn Chevy why you gotta be such an offensive difficult douche.

Re: Community
I'll admit it, I'm a total sucker for Community's homages to a particular show or genre, and last night's ep was no exception. To note somewhat randomly an excellent detail: Troy's omnipresent PTSD blanket. Awesome!

I hope if next week's episode is Pierce's funeral it means the return of Giancarlo Esposito as Gilbert.

OK, since I've already proven I'm an idiot: What, exactly, were they parodying with that episode? There was the blue coloring, and the Social Network song, but I didn't quite get it.

David Fincher movies I think, Zodiac, Seven, The Social Network.

Re: Community
Yeah, I don't think it was necessarily a specific parody, so much as the tropes of those various "hunt for the serial killer" type movies. Which Fincher has done a few of. And shows. Like Hannibal. There was definitely a touch of Hannibal in that mix.
Re: Community
I thought that last episode of Community was amazing, season-three quality work, the right combination of heartfelt and silly.
I want to talk about how much I'm going to miss Troy, but right now I'm stuck on Britta's iPod nano. In the food fight at the end of season 1's "The Art of Discourse," it said that Britta got a used iPod nano…in, I believe, 2014. MIND BLOWN.

Re: Community
Not only did Britta come full circle, so did Troy. Last night was of Season 2 quality vintage. I thought season 3 was good in spurts and went a little of the rails at the end and I didn't watch season 4, but the first 4 episodes of this season have been at the high points of the latter half of season 1 and the triumph of season 2. So glad the show and Dan Harmon are back together.

Re: Community
Troy has always been my favorite character, and I'm going to miss him. But it's actually a very fitting twist for him. In a lot of ways, Greendale was a way out for him - now he's being forced back into the world by sailing around it.
Now I want to watch that episode where they took sailing lessons again. Heh.
The rest of the episode was quite good, though the arguing got a bit too heated and lasted too long at times. On the other hand, the "survivors" in these situations are often a little displaced after the fact. :(

Re: Community
The goodbyes were glorious, for some reason Annie and Jeff's hit me hardest and I love the boat name which is both perfect for Pierce and a nod to Donald.

1) You guys, this show!
2) I'm still a little amazed how much Pierce has actually been a part of this show without Chevy Chase actually being on it. I loved quite a bit about the character and even Chase's portrayal of him. So I'm glad about how it's been done and I think it really shows Harmon's affection for the characters on the show, even while disdaining the actor who played one of them.

Re: Community
That was pretty amazing. I love how to-the-wall committed this show is to even its most out-there premise.
And seeing Mike Ehrmentraut bulldozing kids with a lava-zamboni alone would have made this episode a standout.
But I'm still worried about how the show's going to click starting this week.
