She needs to just take it easy and enjoy her childhood while she can. I hope they don't push her to do anything that she can't or doesn't want to handle from now on.

Given how hard they pushed both Jaden and Willow, I don't necessarily believe she actual said what her dad attributed to her but for her sake, I hope they honor the sentiment.

Emma Watson on Twitter:
Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life.

Is that because she doesn't think she'd suit the role or because she thinks the material is crap? I'd love if it were the latter. Either way, funny tweet is funny. Good work, Emma!

I think she'd probably say it's the former to be polite, but it's truly the latter.

I love Emma. Didn't much like her as Hermione, but as a person she's always seemed lovely and intelligent and she has a good head on her shoulders.

Lance Parkin, author, discusses Les Mis.

My favourite quote:
The makers could achieve broadly the same effect, only with slightly more nuance, if they just teargassed their audience.

But the whole piece is pretty funny.

Some of these quotes are better than others, but overall I think we can agree that Mandy Patinkin is a gift to be treasured.

I did a "Why not" friend request to him on Facebook. Not only did he accept the request, I found out that he actually interacts with people in the comments sections. So on any given day, I might get to exchange a passing greeting with one of my favorite actors of all time.

I have no strong feelings about Mandy, one way or the other, but I quite like that twelfth quote: "The time it takes to get something done is the time it takes."

Celebrity Good Quotes - Page 7 Empty Re: Celebrity Good Quotes

I loved this one:
"First, you give everything you have to your children, and then if you're lucky they give it back to you as little reminders of everything you've dropped along the way. But Dad, you said this. Dad, how could you forget that?"
Because it is so true! I can think of many times when I've had that conversation with my parents where I reminded them of something special that's always stuck with me and they don't remember.

For example, I've always remembered that my dad said to me on my first day of first grade that "the first day of first grade is specialer than the second day of second grade or the third day of third grade or the fourth day of fourth grade." And I'll probably say that to my kids. But when I mentioned that to him, he totally couldn't remember saying it (he agreed it was cute though).

That was a fantastic read.

I also thought this was just a really classy statement from former New England Patriot, Joe Andruzzi who aided the injured at the Boston Marathon:

The Patriots retweeted a photo of Andruzzi carrying a woman shortly after chaos erupted, and though he declined to be interviewed about his experience, he released a statement through the PR firm that works with his foundation:

"Marathon Monday should be about uplifting stories, personal challenges and fundraising milestones, but [Monday]'s bombings irrevocably changed that. While I appreciate the interest in hearing our perspective on [Monday]'s horrific events, the spotlight should remain firmly on the countless individuals – first responders, medics, EMTs, runners who crossed the finish line and kept on running straight to give blood – and the countless civilians who did whatever they could to save lives. They were the true heroes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this senseless tragedy."

Celebrity Good Quotes - Page 7 Empty Re: Celebrity Good Quotes

Post  inversed Tue Apr 16, 2013 1:49 pm

I'm sure most of yall have seen this one by now as it has been making the rounds all over Facebook, but Patton Oswalt's quote about Boston is really wonderful:
Boston. Fucking horrible.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

I imagine it was inspired by the Fred Rogers "Look for the helpers" quote.

I was so impressed when I heard that FB piece read aloud today. After devastating events like the bombings, it really is easy to get into that funk where you think humanity is just a blackhole of suck, so to be reminded that most people really are inherently good is grounding and comforting.

Double good quotes! As dinahmoe pointed out in the baseball thread, David Ortiz took the mic at the Red Sox pregame (televised live) to say a few words:
"This jersey that we're wearing today, it doesn't say 'Red Sox.' It says 'Boston.' We want to thank you Mayor Menino, Governor Patrick, the whole police department, for the great job that they did this past week. This is our fucking city. And nobody is going to dictate our freedom. Stay strong. Thank you."

The chairman of the FCC responded on twitter:
David Ortiz spoke from the heart at today's Red Sox game. I stand with Big Papi and the people of Boston - Julius

As there is no I Love Diane Keaton So Very Very Much thread, I'm posting this interview here. Everything she says is my favorite quote.

I'm also going to start putting ice in my red wine just because she does too.

I can hardly believe that this day as come, but a funny quote from W.

There was a time in my life when I wasn't likely to be found at a library, much less found one.
I suppose that I'm shallow, and I like people who show self-awareness/poke fun at themselves.
