Re: Film Trailers
So in 2012, we get The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and the Hobbit.
It's going to be a damn good year.

And Prometheus.
Ridley Scott gets a lifetime pass from me for Alien (and to me he's the only one that has ever accomplished getting a good performance out of Orlando Bloom), so I'm really looking forward to this. Also, Idris Elba. I'm so there.

Re: Film Trailers
I got to see the Dark Knight Rises trailer in front of Sherlock Holmes this evening, and I'm definitely in the minority but I was disappointed. I'm not a mega fan of the Nolan movies but I like them very much and can definitely agree that they're superbly directed and well acted. My main problem with the trailer was that I would never have guessed it was a Batman movie from the trailer. Football? In Gotham? It just seemed strange and out of place to me. I admit to not reading many Batman comics, though: maybe it comes from there. It seemed more like a regular dramatic thriller with generic characters, not the Batman fighting two of his famous rogues' gallery. I hope the actual movie changes my feelings.

Re: Film Trailers
Football doesn't figure into many plots, but there are frequent references to Gotham having at least two professional football teams (one of which is usually the Gotham Knights).

Re: Film Trailers
I just saw the trailer for Chronicle on the Daily Show website. Am I correct in assuming this is about guys who are high on bad pot? Or is it a male version of The Craft? Or some combination of both?

Re: Film Trailers
I think its a documentary style movie on if teenagers were to actually get superheros. I thought it looked good, and I'm a big fan of Dane DeHaan and Michael B. Jordan because of their tv work.

Re: Film Trailers
Trailer for Moonrise Kingdom, a film by... guess who. You should be able to figure it out in about five seconds.
(I'm excited, but I enjoy his style. If he's not your cup of tea, it'll probably be very grating. Also I think I love every single grown-up in the cast.)

Ha ha, Poubelle. When I saw your post I thought it had to be that director or M Night.

Re: Film Trailers
Soderbergh's latest, Haywire, aka Gina Carano Punches Everyone. I'm oddly excited for this.
Re: Film Trailers
It's interesting watching her in this trailer and comparing her to actresses who learn to do this kind of fighting for roles because regardless of how much they train or how realistic their fights look on screen, you can clearly see the difference them and a trained fighter like Gina. Gina's punches and kicks have actual weight and force behind them, for example; you can see it in how her shoulders and hips move. If you knew nothing about this person at all, just from that alone you'd know she could totally knock your head off your shoulders. It's kind of fascinating to watch, actually.

Re: Film Trailers
I really want to see Haywire because the idea of a woman fighting on screen who looks like an actual fighter instead of a stick who kicks is interesting to me. Also a little bit because Ewan McGregor is looking really fine in the trailer.

Re: Film Trailers
There's a clip of the first five minutes out there, where Gina has a knock down brawl with Channing Tatum. It doesn't even look choreographed, and I mean that in the best way. It really looks like Soderbergh just said, "Gina, we're going to roll cameras, just beat the shit out of him."
Re: Film Trailers
Upside Down with Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgess. I hadn't heard of this at all before today but I'll say that, if nothing else, they've got a really cool idea for the story, and the visuals look terrific.

When I went to see The Artist I saw a trailer for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and I think it might already be my new favorite movie.

Re: Film Trailers
The Bourne Legacy.
I love Jeremy Renner and this trailer has me cautiously excited for the final product. I like how it looks like the movie explores a different branch of the same universe by acknowledging Bourne himself and contains both characters from the previous films as well as new ones. Also, the tagline is perfect.

It made me excited for the future movies, because Damon has indicated he'd like to come back and I kept imagining him and Renner kicking ass together.

First trailer for Seeking a Friend for the End of the World!
I like it. I love Keira Knightley and it's nice to see her wearing pants and not a gown in a widely released movie.

Ooh, I'd like to see that! It's like a lighthearted version of Last Night.
And did I see Community's Britta in there in a small part? Yah!

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Not a whole lot to see here since it's just a teaser, but I'm intrigued. The final scene is kind of fantastic.
