It's the best Star Wars movie Natalie Portman ever starred in.

FINALLY got to see Thor 2 today and I'm so happy! It was so much fun! And really beautiful, too. The costumes, the sets, the CGI, the cinematography, everything. So beautiful. A lot prettier than the first Thor movie, too.

So, I know Chris Hardwick isn't everyone's cup of tea and he isn't always mine, but he interviewed head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige as a part of a Marvel Week that included Tom Hiddleston and Clark Gregg. If you're interested in some of the history of how the Marvel films developed, even as far back as X-Men, and some of the mindsets of the people creating them, it's a pretty entertaining listen.

Apparently next week's AoS takes place after Thor 2, and deals with the aftermath.

Okay, fine. I saw it and I admit it: I get the Loki thing now. YOU WIN THIS TIME, INTERNET.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I really enjoy Loki, but I will fully admit I side eye the thirst he inspires on Tumblr when he looks like a young Darlene Conner 60% of the time. That and the people who seem to really hate the entire movie besides Loki.
But I enjoy him. Hes probably the best Marvel cinema villain at this point, I would rank Magneto (young and old) over him but hes Fox studios. Weirdly the only complaint I've had about the Marvel Cinematic films is that so many of their villains have worked but not really inspired any strong feelings outside of their plot role. Like Red Skull was good because Hugo Weaving is always great. But he didn't stand out the way Loki does.
I wonder if Captain America may be able to achieve that with Winter Soldier though.
ETA: I watched it and loved it. So fun. I'll stand out and say I adore Jane and always have. I love Portman and Hemsworth's chemistry and thought they were great. Also ugh, screw you Loki. I want to hate you because of how annoying your tag is on tumblr, and how your super fans think the movie is called Loki, but I can't. I adore you.

FINALLY got to see Thor 2 tonight and loved it.
- Spoiler:
- Erik: Thor! Er, your brother's not here, is he?
Thor: He's dead.
Erik: Oh, thank GOD.
I laughed until I cried. It was such a horribly awkward moment, but I completely lost it at that scene. Pretty much every scene with Thor in London was golden. Especially him on the Tube, and him hanging Mew-Mew up on the coatrack when he comes into the apartment.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I've seen Thor 2 twice now and I loved it both times. It was just as funny and delightful as the first time I saw it. Hemsworth is just the prettiest. I couldn't even stop myself at one point from telling my husband about how damn pretty Thor is. I'm glad
We saw the trailer for the new X-men movie before Thor and I'm so excited to see that. I cannot wait. But I'm prepared to be disappointed because I felt the same way about the last Wolverine movie and that was just not worth it. This looks better. As long as they haven't shown all the best parts in the trailer.
- Spoiler:
- Loki isn't dead. Marvel movies need more Loki.

Marvel has announced which Ant Man will be in the new movie while also driving me to drink with what's happening to Hank Pym.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Supposedly one of the first headlines announcing his casting said that
ETA in other casting news, it's rumored that Johnny Depp has been meeting with Marvel about Dr. Strange. I can kind of see it. Strange has always come off slightly smarmy to me and Johnny Depp is totally smarmy now.
- Spoiler:
- Michael Douglas would be playing the villain in the Ant Man movie. It was quickly changed to MD cast as Hank Pym. I guess that's one way to have Hank Pym still exist as the creator of Ultron and have Ant Man connect to Avengers 2.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I'm actually really intrigued by the idea of an older Hank and the movie focusing more on Scott. I love Edgar Wright though and know he loves the character so I have a lot of blind faith though.
I've always found Hank a problematic film character so that might be why I am so on board. I also love Michael Douglas.

- I think Michael Douglas could capture Hank Pym at his wife beatinest. Like my least favorite actor ever.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
re: Tiffany's spoiler spec. Isn't AntMan coming out after Avengers 2?
Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Yes, by almost two months. But since neither have started filming yet, it could be that we'll see Hank Pym at least cameo in Age of Ultron instead of putting the creation of Ultron entirely on Tony's shoulders.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
D'oh! I got the two dates confused. While I'd rather they keep Hank as the creator of Ultron instead of Tony, at this point I'd rather they just scrap Hank Pym in the movieverse.

Thomas Kretschmann also cast in Age of Ultron. Marvel is certainly keeping its villains hot. (Under the probable makeup, but still.)

Apparently, Chris Evans's bit in Thor 2 was filmed separately and they have an unused clip of Hiddleston in the Captain America outfit. He also does an American accent.

Definitely not Thor, but now I want to see him play Robert Plant in a Led Zeppelin biopic.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
It's hilarious how ill-suited Hiddleston is, physically, for either Captain America or Thor. I can't believe he was considered seriously for Thor. No matter how ripped his body, his face is angular and his frame is not Thor.
