Re: Death Pool
I'm really and weirdly emotionally affected by his passing, Mr. Bradford was such a great "modern" dad, super sad that he is gone. RIP.
Re: Death Pool
Ugh no way, I just read Dame Diana Rigg's interview at the AV Club *yesterday* and she mentioned how she hadn't seen him in a very long while, though she felt she would always be "close" to him. Damn, RIP.
Re: Death Pool
I read the same article and thought 'knock wood.'
Taught me what it means to be a gentleman (even when evil Christopher Lee robots are trying to kill you), and with Dame Diana created an exemplar of a male/female professional relationship unparalleled till perhaps Mulder and Scully.

Amanda Peterson from Can't Buy Me Love died. I desperately wanted to be as awesome as Cindy Mancini when I saw this movie, and I reaaaaally wanted one of those white fringe leather jackets. 43 is way too damn young.

Coneycat beat me to it. Here's another obit for Omar Sharif. I'd missed the news that he had Alzheimer's.

It sounds like he was really ill at the end, which must have been awfully sad for his son. My mother is surprisingly upset about this, I had forgotten what a fan she was.

Roger Rees has died.
How very sad. I always liked him, in whatever project he was appearing. STOP DYING, PEOPLE.

That's a shocker. 71? Omar Sharif's passing was expected because of the Alzheimer's but I didn't see that one coming. I raise a glass and shout 'Gerald!' in his honour.
Re: Death Pool
Alex Rocco.
He was 79 and his daughter announced his death this morning. I don't even know where I saw him first but when I heard his voice on The Simpsons as Roger Meyers JR, I knew EXACTLY who he was. Sad news. Roger Meyers Jr was one of my favourite guest characters, for want of a better word.

Aw, Jo's dad on Facts of Life!! :(
I always loved his gravelly voice, I could recognize when he came onscreen even if I wasn't looking.

Re: Death Pool
I find this heartbreaking because I well remember the MTV interview Whitney Houston did when she was pregnant and her happiness at being married and starting a family was very obvious. It was like she was finally getting the success on a personal level to match the success of her career. And to see how it ended for the both of them, so much potential and possibility gone.
So very sad.

I'm not a huge horror fan, but Scream is one of my favourite movies of all time, and I sincerely believe that all three sequels are highly underrated. And you have to love someone who first helps create a genre and then satirizes it and thus creates a new genre. RIP Mr. Craven.

dionnshea, I'm the same - I don't like horror films, but I adore the Scream franchise.
Re: Death Pool
I am very sad to hear this. I haven't read one of her books in a long time but I well remember my cousin's converted attic where all her books were on shelves and there were some Jackie Collins' on there. This is in Aunt Noreen's house btw so while the rest of the family would be doing summer vacation things, early teens me would spend the majority of her time in the attic reading these salacious novels and every couple of pages, I'd have to stop and think "but how would that work exactly?" and then try to figure out the mechanics of the human anatomy and what was described on the page.
One report of her death mentioned that she'd kept news of her cancer so private that even Joan Collins only found out two weeks ago. Of course everyone deals with these things in their own way but I'm not sure I'd be too happy if my sister was sick for years and only told me shortly before her death. But then I don't know what kind of relationship they had and maybe Joan was happier not knowing.
