Re: The X-Files
Apparently it's still not confirmed that Double D is doing NYCC, but I guess he and Gillian could do the Reddit together yet in two separate locations, or maybe he'll be in NYC but just not do the con.
I too adore the New Era of Friendship.

Re: The X-Files
Not only is DD finally now confirmed for NYCC, but it was just announced that DD and GA are going to be at the Paley Center the night before. If I weren't a SENSIBLE ADULT it is possible that I might jump up and down and clap. But, of course, I would never do that. Excuse me while I pop into the restroom for a moment. There, I'm back. That clapping sound you heard was just the sea.
Of course, I just realized this is Columbus Day weekend and I'll be away the whole time, with limited internet. I guess I can wait to do the majority of my obsessing until I get home. I GUEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS.

Re: The X-Files
Well, it looks like they did sell out but they just put up tickets for the Second Viewing Space, so...you're not even in the same room, just watching them on TV. Tickets are cheaper but is that even worth it? Is the experience of being in the same building enough?UmaOprah wrote:I am totally buying tickets!! Wonder if they'll sell out...

The Gillian Anderson/David Duchovny AMA is right here. And it's hilarious!
In response to the question "Who/what was your favorite "monster of the week"? Love you guys!" Gillian Anderson said:

That Doug is of course this creeper. My favorite Monster of the week used to be, well I would normally answer that it would be Tooms. But on the first episode that we shot, Tooms 1, It was my birthday when we were shooting it. I turned 25. And Doug offered me a birthday present. To come to my hotel room. And I did not take him up on it. And I'm very grateful now that I did not take him up on it.

Hm, I would have figured she was too old for him by 25. Also, EW.

So, if anyone's looking for me, I have passed away due to the Paley panel that just happened.

Re: The X-Files
I'm going to need lots of details. Also, are they officially dating? Because if not, they're totally fucking with us, and that's just mean! I ordinarily mock people who fangirl IRL couples, but you guys, I WANT TO BELIEVE.
ETA: Found it! I'm about fifteen minutes in, and their reactions to the host reminding them of the details of the final episode is hysterical. Also, I remember literally none of that; time for a rewatch.

Ha, I am going to slowly go through all the goodness from this weekend. But yes stop toying with my emotions people. Gillian is looking AMAZING lately (not that she doesn't usually look good, but y'know) especially at the Paley.
Re: The X-Files
I think she is actually aging backwards. And David looks pretty great for 53.

Re: The X-Files
The whole NYCC panel is now up as well, here. (The first part has no visual, but after 30 seconds or so it comes on.)
I think they had their grown-up pants on for the Paley one (mostly), and here they are just gum-chewing sass factories. David was more PRESENT (at both events I mean) than I literally have ever seen him be at any public thing ever. Good times.
It was quite a goddamn weekend to be an X-Files fan all right. I don't think they are together but I would be surprised if it hadn't crossed their minds this weekend. I mean, look at them.

Re: The X-Files
My favorite thing to come out of the whole weekend:
Dude. Yes. Finally. I mean DD was a dick before 1998, but it's nice to hear him own his A for all star effort that year.DD: Oh, the bees! The bees were, uh… It’s funny because we were shooting that out in that dome — no, it was on stage, they built that dome on the Fox lot. And I was in a particularly bad mood that… year.

IIIIIIIIIII KNOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW. I, PERSONALLY, feel vindicated so I can't imagine how GA feels, heh.blixie wrote:My favorite thing to come out of the whole weekend:Dude. Yes. Finally. Also the whole thing where he said that he knew that she had worked hard for him on The Unnatural, and he appreciated it, and he didn't think he'd ever told her (HA), and it was just very sweet and uncharacteristically sincere.
I thought the link to the Paley panel was here somewhere but now I don't see it, so here it is.

Re: The X-Files
I'm glad he acknowledges it because I remember reading interviews around the time of the first movie, and I remember wondering if it was that he hated journalists so much that he couldn't muster being pleasant or whether he was just a pain in the ass on set. I think I have my answer, and I'm glad he recognizes what a tool he was being.blixie wrote:My favorite thing to come out of the whole weekend:Dude. Yes. Finally. Re: The X-Files
WE NEED THIS.
Speculative fiction in television is SORELY lacking these days, and Gillian and David are both young and actively working, so BRING THEM BACK. I've just stopped my Fringe-athon rewatch mid series and started watching the X-Files again, and they had such great chemistry! And no other show has ever done the creepy factor like X-Files.

Re: The X-Files
Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrible idea? The last few seasons of the show were just awful and the movie was not great. And now all this time has passed and the cultural landscape is different than it was when the show first hit. I just don't think you can capture lightning in a bottle twice.

Re: The X-Files
No, I think it's a mistake. If they want to reboot it with new characters, a clean mythology slate...then maybe. Have Mulder and Scully weave in and out of the plot, but don't try and continue that hot mess of a story.
