Yeah, four abdominal surgeries can't be a pleasant experience. I hope she recovers, and I hope that this complication doesn't prevent her from having more children if she wants them. She seems like a sweet woman.

I've always thought she seems like a horrible person, but I don't wish her any ill - hopefully she'll recover soon.

It's getting a bit more common now, but there are still a lot of doctors who strongly discourage VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). She may not have felt she had a choice, for whatever reason. Either way, her body has clearly been through a lot and I hope the rest of her recovery is as smooth as it can be.

My understanding is that to attempt a VBAC it needs to have been two years since your last c-section in order for it not to be too risky to attempt, so if she had to have a c-section the first time she hasn't had time in between to even attempt a VBAC even if she wanted to.

I had a couple of those about six years ago (high blood pressure + the Pill + neck injury = a myriad of other issues and two fun-filled weeks in the hospital!) - I'm glad he's doing okay and hope he stays that way.

Ian McKellan has prostate cancer. It sounds like he's OK at the moment, but that headline made my heart jump into my throat.

Poor guy. Doesn't sound like it's holding him back any, which is good.

Yeah, my understanding is that ALL men will get prostate cancer eventually, if they live long enough, so as long as it's not growing quickly it's a condition rather than a death threat.

Really? I did not know that.

It could be like certain other cancers as well, that it's the spreading to other organs that is the real danger.

Yeah, the lifetime risk of being diagnosed with prostate cancer is 1 in 6, but more people have tiny cancers than are diagnosed, and people usually die of something else in the mean time, like "old age." But the precursors are seen in something like 50% of men, so if you extrapolate it out, probably most would eventually get prostate cancer if you could live to 150 or something.

We have a saying "most men die with prostate cancer not of prostate cancer". Of course, there are cases where that hasn't been the case (I'm thinking of Orbach) but, as particle_person said, most men will develop prostate cancer if they live long enough.

Looks like he's recovering after surgery now. Maybe it's time to retire before he ends up like that man in the Jackie Collins book, the one that dies in bed (but not in the usual sense).

Sounds like that's the only excercise he gets.

Bieber collapsed during concert, taken to hospital. He got some oxygen and finished performing first, but it's been an...interesting few days for the Biebs.

I felt really bad, then I actually read it.

Sources say Bieber was advised to go to the hospital ... but declined ... insisting that he "had to finish the show for his fans."

That's when Bieber's rep, Scooter Braun, went on stage and told the crowd ... "Justin's got very light breath. The whole show he’s been complaining, He’s backstage with the EMTs and the doctor."

A short time later, JB returned to the stage ... completed the show ... and got a HUGE ovation.

Justin was transported to the hospital directly following the show ... and we're told he's still there receiving treatment.

And I sort of felt like...yeah, that's not even subtle pr there, but felt bad for being cynical about it.

Then I saw the instagram pic and was like...are you even serious right now?

I hate that I'm feeling like this whole thing sounds staged as hell to serve as damage control for a truly BAD week of publicity. But if not that, at the least, he's certainly using the collapse for all its worth in positive pr. And in a really over the top and transparent way. I don't get what is going on at Team Bieber these days.

Oh good lord. He really pushed that sheet pretty far down to demonstrate how sick he was. Seriously, Biebs?
