The show released a statement saying her death and the upcoming character death are unrelated.

I hadn't watched the show in years, but I feel sad the same way I did when the voice of Woody-Woodpecker died. They're ageless cartoons - they aren't supposed to die!

They said in the article that it wasn't Edna that they'd planned to kill off this year.
Also, the article has since been updated to note that she did not pass away from breast cancer, but complications to "other illnesses." Poor lady.

Not a celeb outside local circles, but earlier this week my old college advisor died at 55. Mid-fifties is too damn young.

Just read about Trotter on MSN. The culinary community will surely be mourning his very sudden passing.

Oh wow. That is incredibly shocking. I hoped it was a hoax but it's spreading extremely fast. He has a 15-year-old daughter? Crazy. And the morbid jokes about him starring in the "Fast and the Furious" franchise have already started.

I'm seeing it on The New York Daily news website. TMZ 'helpfully' provided a shot of the scene of the accident too.

This makes me really sad. How completely terrible for his family.

Yeah, lovely to see someone's death so ripe for tasteless jokes. Christ, how is it funny to ridicule someone's tragic accident?

According to his rep he was a,passenger in his friend's car who also died.

So it really is true? That's horrible. His daughter must be devastated.
