The final season of my beloved Treme started tonight. I totally understand why people didn't get into it because it's not so much with the plot but I just love hanging with the characters even Sonny and Davis!

We finished off Luther last night, and I am going to miss the hell out of Luther and Alice and their kooky dynamic. And I accidentally got spoiled for the big death in the third episode of the last season, but man. I was still gutted.

Sonny has gotten so much better since the first season. I'm going to be so sad when this show ends. I just want to hang out and listen to music with them forever.biakbiak wrote:The final season of my beloved Treme started tonight. Re: What Are You Watching
Netflix makes me fall into TV wormholes. They added The Nanny recently (at least on Netflix Canada), and I ended up rewatching the whole series. The clothes are so very 90s, it is cheesy/predictable in many ways, and the last season or so is not quite as good. Still, I remember why I was so fond of that show. It's just fluffy and enjoyable escapist TV. I'm not usually one for broad comedy, but Fran Drescher is just a talented comedienne, and the verbal sparring between many characters is terribly fun.

My husband has been binge-watching Battlestar Galactica on Amazon Prime. I have caught some episodes here and there and it's really good! Much deeper than I expected. I can see why people get obsessed with it.

I've been binge-watching it--I think I'm on S3E17. I've been Tivo-ing the current season so I'll probably catch up in time for the finale. I'm so glad that it at least got this mini-season to wrap things up. I've enjoyed it so much, and safe to say my semi-shameful crushes on Shane West and Devon Sawa are alive and well.

Squee! I found out I have the Encore Classics channel and they've started airing Murphy Brown every afternoon! I have the first season on DVD but they never went past that due to the cost of all the music rights and fees, so there are so many episodes I haven't seen in so long. I can't wait to see Murphy, Frank, Jim, Corky, Miles, Phil, and the 1001 secretaries Murphy went through.

Loved Murphy Brown. Wish it was airing in Canada.
Got sucked into season 2 of Borgen, a series about the first woman prime minister of Denmark, that was airing as blocks of episodes in the last few days. My DVR cut off the last episode, which I am so bummed about. I have to go back to watch season 1. Such a riveting show.

I liked Nikita's finale. It was a bit anticlimactic, but satisfying overall.

I liked it too, but it wasn't perfect. I was relieved that
- Spoiler:
- she hadn't really gone off the rails, because that seemed a little forced to me. Good to know my feelings were correct! But at the same time, having a finale that was 1/2 false premise, 1/4 exposition on How They Did It, and 1/4 wrap-up wasn't really ideal.

Re: What Are You Watching
So my husband and I are watching Alias (I'm re-watching, he's watching it for the first time). We're watching an episode where Sydney and Vaughn and Jack go see a scientist Sloane knows to try and recover some of Sydney's memories of the two years she was Julia Thorne and holy shit, this guy is totally the original Walter Bishop.
I swear all they needed was a sensory deprivation tank and it could have been one of the first few episodes of Fringe.
- Mad scientist (played by David Cronenberg)
- Dabbles around with psychotropic drugs
- Also experiments with drugs
- Talks about junk food the whole time
- Has a younger female assistant

So apparently there's this show called Law and Order that's been around forever and is now available for streaming on Netflix. I've only watched the occasional episode, but was looking for a semi-mindless procedural, and now, apparently, the next six months are planned out for me while I watch ALL THE SHOWS.
Also, I seem to be developing a weird thing for Michael Moriarty.

Spartacus such a gratuitous, purple prosed, derivative, mess that I swear was only researched on Wikipedia. Fun though.
I was hoping for a post-script where the Syrian rebel turned out to be the guide who later lead Craccuss into the disaster in Syria and poured molten gold down his mouth.

These young tv whippersnappers could learn a thing or ten from Dick Wolf. He has mastered the art of making TV CRACK. I can't even explain how many times I've caught myself 3 hours into a L&O [insert strain here] marathon and thought "WHY AM I WATCHING THIS? I'VE SEEN THEM ALL 30 TIMES!!' I can tell which episode it is from another room just from hearing the dialogue with about 90% accuracy. And now I'm hooked on Chicago Fire--speaking of Festival of Hot Guys (currently being discussed in the Movies Forum)--and have already season pass'd the spin-off, Chicago PD.
I'm not proud of this. Also, I am old.
Also also, even though I'm old, I still watch most of ABC Family's programming. Yes, still all in for Pretty Little Liars, picked up Ravenswood (ILUVYOUCALEB!!), still pissed about the cancellation of the The Lying Game, and think Switched at Birth and The Fosters are legit good.

Re: What Are You Watching
I just read a book about the Tudors and I am now going to be commencing the period in which I am obsessed with the Tudors. So I think I might start with The Tudors. Since there was a marathon on BBC America (which I was aware of thanks to an FB post from Unlucky Bear; thanks, UB!), I just DVR'd a few, but it's also on Netflix so I'll just start at the beginning. I also am probably going to have to watch, and perhaps even read, The Other Boleyn Girl.

Re: What Are You Watching
I'm mainlining The Fall, a miniseries starring Gillian Anderson as a detective investigating a series of killings in Belfast. Jamie Dornan plays the killer, an apparently normal, family man who stalks women at night. It's not exploitative or gruesome, but manages to draw you into the characters' lives, even the killer, which is a bit disconcerting.
Re: What Are You Watching
You're welcome!
Watch it on Netflix, though; they cut out all the sexy times for cable, boo (she says, after spending like six hours on the couch watching it on BBC America).

I...was going to try and find a way to ask that about whether they cut out the sexy times without coming across like a pervert. Heehee. I shall take this information under advisement.

The Bletchley Circle is excellent. I missed it on its PBS run but am catching now on Netlix.

Re: What Are You Watching
Has anyone else watched any of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on Netflix? It's an Australian show about a lady detective in the 1920s. I guess it aired on some PBS stations but not mine so I've been watching now. I love it. I still have a few left and I'm dragging my feet because I don't want it to be over. It's so fun and everyone wears such nice clothes and looks so good!
