Re: What Are You Watching
? I luuuurved Kathryn Prescott from Skins, so I would have tuned in just for her (she does an excellent American accent, btw).
Really? I am usually the last to pick up on it and I thought her accent slipped several times. I find Cynthia Watros' cheekbones disturbing. I would much rather watch a show with Max and Carter.

I've been watching Haven, and liking it a lot. It's not ground-breaking, but it's easy to watch and enjoyable. I thought they were going somewhere interesting and spooky with the other Audrey Parker and the other Agent Howard, but they haven't really touched on it too much, especially the 'who is the Agent Howard that Audrey 1 has been speaking to?' part.

Re: What Are You Watching
I finally watched season 1 of The Mindy Project and oh my God. I love it. Super funny, great cast (except for the old lady they brought back to the reception desk after Amanda Setton left presumably to do The Crazy Ones. I can't stand her). I heard Adam Pally joins in season 2 and I'm looking forward to watching it ASAP.

I enjoy this show a lot even though it can be inconsistent. If you liked season 1, I think you'll like season 2 as I think it gets even better especially in the latter half of the season.

Yeah, I've heard season 2 is even better. I'm looking forward to watching it, thanks!
Re: What Are You Watching
I really wanted to like The Mindy Project, but I found it difficult. I don't know why exactly.
Is anyone watching the new season of Witches of East End? I had forgotten it started up again and watched the premiere over the weekend. Not sure it will hold up for second season but we'll see.

Re: What Are You Watching
I love the Mindy Project, though I agree that it's very inconsistent, and it's very obvious that it keeps shifting around to try to find its footing (too many characters cycling in and out). Season 2 is in some ways better than Season 1, but there's too much Adam Pally, and not enough Ed Weeks (Dr. Jeremy). Adam Pally's character does get better with time, but is so irritating for a long while.
Other things I love about this show:
1. Chris Messina - he makes everything better
2. Mindy's fashion - it's fun
3. Mindy's brother, Rishi
4. Mindy's boyfriends (except Casey, didn't really like him)
5. It addresses race/ethnicity, and doesn't address it, too. (<-- many articles have been written up on aspects of this point, like yay! finally a woman of color is the lead in a sitcom and she's not a size 0! boo! why does she only date white men? etc. etc.)
6. Massachusetts jokes - not very many, but fun when they happen. Mindy Kaling grew up in my hometown in Mass.
I hope you continue with it!

Re: What Are You Watching
I spent the weekend marathoning the first season of Crossing Lines only to discover that NBC isn't showing the second season. Boo, NBC, I need my Tom Wlaschiha/Richard Flood duo of hotness.

I liked Crossing Lines as well. On June 3, the CL fb page announced that S2 will be aired in the US and they're going to announce it soon...but so far nothing. I hope it at least lands on Netflix at some point.
In other news, I just read on TV by the Numbers that Yahoo is in preliminary talks to revive Enlisted. God I would love that so much!

Yup to these two!
Re: What Are You Watching
I've started watching Traffic Light on Netflix. It's a Fox sitcom that was cancelled after one season, and I hadn't heard of it before. The title is terrible, but it reminds me of The League, with much, much less sports, and less bro dude humor: 3 30-something guys who have been good friends since college, and their daily lives with wives/girlfriends, jobs, etc. The 2 shows even have a bunch of the same guest stars/actors: Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer, Janina Gavankar. Stars Roy from the Office, David Denman; and English-guy-who-goes-to-America-to-get-girls-from-Love-Actually, Kris Marshall; and Nelson Franklin, who has also been in a bunch of stuff. It's nothing ground breaking, but it's good for when you want to watch a short, funny, easy show.

I used to work with Janina Gavankar's mom. I'm glad she's still getting work.

I just finished watching My Boys and the first season of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. The latter is such glorious costume porn.

Catching up on Call the Midwife now that I'm not pregnant anymore. Why can't Chummy and I be friends?

We finally finished off the first season of Masters of Sex. Man, that Masters is a giant asshole. I feel so, so sorry for Libby. We had to take a break after the
- Spoiler:
- miscarriage episode because I just couldn't take any more bad things happening to her.

He is objectively an asshole (and he's not doing any better in S2!) and I get why some people are totally turned off, but he is such an interesting character. Maybe it's because I have met academics like him in real life, but he doesn't feel over-the-top. Combining the power of Michael Sheen's acting and the writing even made me have sympathy for him at different points. That's quite a feat. He's so driven that he bulldozes over anything and anyone, but clearly, his childhood left some deep scars.

Re: What Are You Watching
Yay there's two of us. I'm hoping it happens. Financially it's the best bet out there for a start-up network. This show would be so cheap to make. There's almost zero costumes except uniforms, very few sets since 90% of the show takes place on base or at a bar. Plus, it's already got an audience. Granted it's a small audience but at least it's not starting from scratch. I want this bad.Oh please oh please happen! That show was so great!

Re: What Are You Watching
My husband has gotten into watching really awful movies on Syfy. Last night we watched something called Bermuda Tentacles, which is an artistic masterpiece about a huge alien tentacle monster that lives in the Bermuda Triangle and takes down Air Force One. So of course some Oscar contenders have to go save him. I could roll my eyes at all of the "science" (though my husband couldn't get over the fact that the President's escape pod didn't float) but when the resident scientific expert kept saying "my hypotheses is correct" I just couldn't bear it any longer.
I think we have Piranhasaur or something to that effect recording tonight.

Re: What Are You Watching
My mother has been raving about Call the Midwife, and I finally broke down this weekend and started watching it on Netflix. Of course I ended up loving it, even though the show is VERY emotionally manipulative. Netflix only has the first two seasons at the moment, and I probably cried watching half of them. And the final episode of season 2 just about did me in. The tears were just streaming down my face the last five minutes or so. Maybe I'm just hormonal which I suppose could be contributing to all of it.
Anyway, it's worth checking out. I really like all of the nurses, and I wish the show would spend a bit more time with Cynthia and Trixie. Don't get me wrong, I adore Chummy and Jenny, but I'd like to see more about those characters.

I watched Sharknado 2: The Next One last night, and I am not ashamed. I'm now missing a few brain cells, though.
